Mailwasher update completely screws up Mailwasher

I've been using Mailwasher for years - for so long that I had the complimentary key for paid paid mailwasher for early versions.

When I got Windows 10 in 2015 I now have whatever version there is and paid for a lifetime key.

This morning I got a notification that an update was available, did I want to install it.

I clicked to install it, update downloaded, installed, failed - and said it would roll back to earlier version.

Earlier version has disappeared from my pc - I will have to look through a million files for the key to re-install the earlier version.

Thanks for nothing Firetrust! Obviously I need to disable all updates in future.

You have Windows Defender active ? If so, try opening that, go into Virus and Threat Protection >> at the bottom click Ransomware Protection >> turn Controlled Folder Access off >> install MW.
