Re: Important notice for MailWasher and GMail accounts
I would be most interested in what we have to do.
The post that kicked this forum thread talked about a setting for OAUTH, however the latest version of Mailwasher does not have any such setting.
Now it looks like they want you to "Sign in with Google", so that means there will need to be an update.
If the sole issue was it being secure, what if you are using SSL to sign in?

Re: Important notice for MailWasher and GMail accounts
If Firetrust decides the cost will be too high and does nothing, then it will not be good, and it will not be long before this becomes a requirement for other e-mail services that come with domain hosting, and even ISPS

Does anyone have an alternative? I hate to lose this program but I have too many Google accounts.

I'm in the same situation, I have sent a copy of the email to their support so will see what they say.

So an application password will work vs OAuth? That's interesting.

Re: Important notice for MailWasher and GMail accounts
Stumbled over this thread, as Mailwasher showed an error fetching mail for my IMAP Gmail account and I should enable "Less secure app access". Indeed it was turned off.
When turning it on and this option will not turned off as from May 30.
Now what?
Using Office 365 Subscription based, Outlook Exchange with Gmail IMAP-accounts within the same application.

Check out that link to create an App Password to use in MailWasher, your main GMail password stays the same as it was.
Using the App Password bypasses the need for the Less Secure Apps option.
Cheers

Re: Important notice for MailWasher and GMail accounts
From Google:
Less secure apps & your Google Account
To help keep your account secure, from May 30, 2022, Google no longer supports the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password.
Firetrust, I hope you can update your program, because now a very good program it has become useless.

Re: Important notice for MailWasher and GMail accounts
Finally, you have to create what Google call an APP PASSWORD
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833
this then works with Mail Washer

Re: Important notice for MailWasher and GMail accounts
I have a lot of gmail accounts, and setting up an app password for each will be a royal pita...if this is the only solution for accessing my gmail accounts through MWP, then I'm afraid I will have to find some other product to do my bidding, and that, too, will be a royal pita...

Hi Thanks for this info... it worked perfectly for me, however would be great if Mailwasher updates this issue to work without this go-around.RogNor wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 6:50 amThere is a work round for this, Link https://www.firetrust.com/products/mail ... quirements

AjTeX wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 1:18 amThis did not work for me. "App passwords" is no longer available from Google. I.e., the "App Passwords" prompt/button does not appear on the final 2-step verification page.RogNor wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 6:50 amThere is a work round for this, Link https://www.firetrust.com/products/mail ... quirements
