Hi,

I'm not sure if this is related, but mailwasher is not receiving any of my gmail emails since 17th Dec 2019. When I start mailwaher it finds gmail's upto that date, but nothing after, even though I can see them in the web app or phone. Looking at the logs, there are no errors, the logon to gmail is successful.

I cvan't think what is causing this, does anypne have any ideas?

Thanks
Under Settings >> Accounts >> Incoming >> is MailWasher set to POP ?
If so, change to IMAP >> Save >> restart MailWasher, see if that loads the messages you expect.

Failing that, flick me some logs via Help >> Send Support Logs >> make a brief note like 'new gmail messages not loading' >> in the Ticket Number field enter chris >> Send Logs >> reply back to me once sent so I can check they arrived all OK.

Thanks

If this helps:
I use Pegasus as email client for my Gmail and Mailwasher Pro 7 to preview (etc) mail before downloading.
As above, since December, MW could access my Gmail account but could not process the mail before downloading into my Pegasus.
Today found this solution - went into my Google account and did as instructed below (copied from the Google AC page):

"Sign in using App Passwords
An App Password is a 16-digit passcode that gives a non-Google app or device permission to access your Google Account. App Passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on.
When to use App Passwords
To help keep your account secure, use "Sign in with Google" to connect apps to your Google Account. If the app you’re using doesn’t offer this option, you can either:
• Use App Passwords to connect to your Google Account
• Switch to a more secure app
Create & use App Passwords
Note: If you use 2-Step-Verification and are seeing a "password incorrect" error when trying to access your Google Account, an App Password may solve the problem.
1. Go to your Google Account.
2. On the left navigation panel, choose Security.
3. On the "Signing in to Google" panel, choose App Passwords. If you don’t see this option:
• 2-Step Verification is not set up for your account.
• 2-Step Verification is set up for security keys only.
• Your account is through work, school, or other organization.
• You’ve turned on Advanced Protection for your account.
4. At the bottom, choose Select app and choose the app you’re using.
5. Choose Select device and choose the device you’re using.
6. Choose Generate.
7. Follow the instructions to enter the App Password. The App Password is the 16-character code in the yellow bar on your device.
8. Choose Done."

Then pasted the generated password into Pegasus and into the Mailwasher Account for Gmail.

This setup is working so far.

Best of luck.

RESOLVED

I have found a simple and easy way to use earlier versions of mailwasher with hotmail - so it should work with Gmail etc.

Forward Windows Live Hotmail Email to a Different Email Account

Log in to your email through Outlook Mail.
Select the Settings menu icon (it's located on the right side of the menu bar and it looks like a gear).
Choose View all Outlook settings.
Go to Mail > Forwarding. ...
Select the Enable forwarding check box

Now simply delete your hotmail/Gmail from mailwasher - any emails sent to them will be redirected to your alternative email address.

What this means for users. Users will have to be sure Less Secure Apps is enabled for their GMail account here

Why can't Mailwasher do this as Mozilla Thunderbird can, i.e. you do not need to enable Less Secure apps?

Perhaps because they are a nonprofit under Mozilla. Google is very generous to 501 companies.

I am not happy I am going to be booted out of using this by Google. I wish there was an updated stance by Google to OAUTH.

Does this mean that it is not neccessary to allow less security application in Google account?

To use in MailWasher you either need to Allow Less Secure Apps.

Or setup 2 Factor Authentication and use an App Password in MailWasher.

Flick me some logs via Help >> Send Support Logs >> make a brief note like 'gmail messages not loading' >> in the Ticket Number field enter chris >> Send Logs >> flick another email to me at forum@firetrust.com after you send the logs, so I can confirm they arrived all OK.

Cheers

Don`t bother trying to sort it out anymore. I just stop using Malwasher.
Thank you for the help you have done so far.

Easiest way is to create an app password to use in MailWasher https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en

Not sure if I'm missing something but using version 6.3 I just set the server address to pop.gmail.com and port to 993 in MailWasher while for my main email client, Thunderbird, I set a couple of those accounts to 995:pop.gmail.com and one of them to 993.imap.gmail.com. That's been working fine for a couple of years in my case.
