lost display settings, plus unknown

Thu Jun 27, 2019 9:17 pm

Very recently (after a MW update? I don't know - I'm on 7.12.6) when my computer restarts all my display settings (not accounts) get lost and I have to start again from scratch.
Just now MW is also reporting an unknown error -

Description: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.

Diagnosis: <EVENT><NAME>MWPEXCEPTION</NAME><ID>a2ae7c7c4cd07d99601e6b8e57ca3666</ID><DT>2019-06-27 11:14:50</DT><MWPEXCEPTION><UID>Exception 9e8d81aabfefca78d5c2270160305c60</UID><AID>Acct1152618856</AID><SOURCE>MWPfetch::FetchThread()</SOURCE><MESSAGE>Unknown error</MESSAGE><ADDXML></ADDXML></MWPEXCEPTION><ORDINAL>0</ORDINAL></EVENT>

Any comments or assistance much appreciated.
I guess I should just do a Windows (10 64-bit) repair type update?

If you go into Help >> User Files >> right click on the Display.xml file and select Properties >> check the Read Only option is unchecked >> change if necessary.

You could also try deleting this file and restarting MailWasher, you will lose your display settings again.

For the fetch error, can you try sending me some logs. To do that go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter a brief note like 'as per forum' >> in the Ticket Number field enter chris >> Send Logs >> reply back here once sent, so I can check for their arrival.

Cheers

Great, thanks. I haven't seen this issue before, it's difficult to describe as the logs are just full of NULL values.

It wouldn't hurt to run a .NET Repair, which takes roughly 10 minutes

For your FW-books account, can you go into Settings >> Account >> select the Incoming tab >> uncheck Store Cached Emails >> Save >> restart MailWasher.
I would actually recommend switching this option off on all your POP accounts, as it has been known to cause problems.

I would also delete the Startup.xml file, as it seems MailWasher runs into some trouble on refresh of the mail grid, during this process it will be reading/writing the column orders which are in this file, not the Display.xml

This may be the file giving you trouble to begin with, it contains all the column orders and some other visual layout options for the main screen, Preview Pane, startup intro video etc...

Fingers crossed that gets all things back to normal.

So . . switched off the Store Cached Emails settings. Rebooted MW and all's well - it seems ;)
Thanks Chris
