SPAM thumbs down & Groups

Fri Jan 03, 2020 12:38 pm

Hello. I am new to Mailwasher. I just purchased PRO yesterday, and am trying to learn all the specifics on how MW works.

When I click on the "thumbs down", it turns red and marked as SPAM, good so far. In reading the documentation, it says that the user needs to do an email 10-20 times before MW remembers. Is that true? I would expect that marking an email as SPAM once would be sufficient, so that the next time I do a "Check Mail" it would remember my selection as SPAM on subsequent emails that come in.

Also, when I do a "Group by Status" it very nicely puts all the same status's together....like SPAM, BLACKLIST, GOOD, etc. That's great for viewing. However, when I want to then select multiples with the SHIFT CLICK on the thumbs down, on the first such click, it automatically puts that one email into the SPAM group, and I cannot do select of multiples. If I take off the Group by Status, then I can do multiples. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Is there a way to select multiples when in Group by Status?

Hi there

MailWasher remembers every message you train. Once the corpus hits around 1500 messages for each (one for spam, one for good), it removes the oldest trained email to make room for the newest.

Early on, when MailWasher has little training, it puts less emphasis on trained messages for evaluation on subsequent messages. It does this until it has a solid base to work with.

Also to help speed training up, if a message is already considered just a little bit spammy or good, and you do not alter this before you Wash Mail, then MailWasher will train on that message.

Overall, it probably takes around 100-150 emails trained as good/spam before you notice consistency. 10-20 messages could still lead to some inaccuracies.

For the grouping behaviour. Instead you could SHIFT click your selection using any column other than Status, then once those messages are highlighted, left click your Status field to mark all emails, which would in turn move them into the group.

Cheers
