Gmail IMAP problem

I added an organization's Gmail IMAP account to my personal ones in Mailwasher early in 2019, so that I know when emails come to that account. Sometime fairly recently, I'm not sure exactly when, MWP 7 started showing errors every time on that account, "Failed to log into IMAP server." I'm trying to figure out why, since the only thing I changed was the password on that account when it got hacked in late November. The head of the org is not aware of any other changes. Has Google made changes recently that might be causing this, or where else should I be looking? All the settings are correct. Thanks,

Check Less Secure Apps set to ON here https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps
As MailWasher cannot check accounts with this off.

Thanks. Maybe Google reset it with the hack, but I'm still getting the error.

It can take a few minutes to take effect. Sometimes too I've seen it reset back, so restart the browser and double check it is set as desired.

Go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter a brief note like 'as per forum' >> in the Ticket Number field enter chris >> Send Logs >> reply back once sent, so can check they arrived.

Yeah everything does look good from MWs end. Double check here https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/fwdandpop that IMAP is enabled. If for some reason it is disabled, change the setting then hit Save Changes down the very bottom.

Aside from that, all I can think of is the password isn't matching. You can check using the eye icon in MailWasher that the one entered is right.

If you have another browser installed, I also might check again at https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps
Maybe there is something screwy going on with that setting.

Well, it is darn strange. In Opera, I went back to the lesssecureapps page and it was now disabled. So I enabled it, opened Chrome, checked it there, sent a test and it showed in MWP. Then I went back to Opera and tried another test and it worked. Go figure. Have to see if it holds. Thanks for the help.

OK thanks, good to know. If I recall the person who had the same issue was also trying to change the setting in Chrome, so perhaps there is an issue altering the setting in that particular browser.
