Hi,
I have a problem, I've not seen this before. When I open Mozilla Thunderbird and collect messages, usually the next time I open Mail Washer the emails which have been collected are no longer shown.
Now, sadly they're still there. I can point to some clues as to why:
When I open my Virgin mail the emails which I've collected via Mail Washer are still marked as unread.
Clearly Mail Washer isn't telling Virgin that it's collected the mail.
Also:
When I set up the email account settings:
My email address is: *****.******@virgin.net therefore (apparently)
The POP3 address ought to be: POP3.Virgin.net Port 995
And the SMTP address ought to be: SMTP.Virgin.net Port 465
However when I set those, the POP3 reports 'Failed to connect to server', although the SMTP says 'Changes successfully saved'.
So, I deleted the account for a clean start and tried again, this time I let Mail Washer set everything just from my email address and everything seems to work, I think I can send and get my emails, except for the problem above.
BUT: Mail Washer set POP3 to POP3.Virginmedia.com (port 995) and SMTP to SMTP.Virginmedia.com (port 465).
Also:
When I go to the Virgin Mail, I can manually set emails as read.
Having done that, opening Mail Washer I manually clear the grid... No emails showing, click 'Check mail' and the same emails I've just cleared return, these are the same ones I've just marked as read in Virgin.

Re: Grid not clearing.
Yeah that is correct that the server settings should be pop3.virginmedia.com and smtp.virginmedia.com
https://www.virginmedia.com/help/email- ... ia-domains
With the emails not being removed after download. In ThunderBird under Tools >> Account Settings >> select Server Settings on the left for the account >> at the top, is the account listed as a POP or IMAP account ?
Thanks

Re: Grid not clearing.
Thanks, but: virginmedia.com is for email addresses which end in @virginmedia.com
Addresses ending @virgin.net are different, they have always been just, e.g. pop3.virgin.net.
And yes, I am using POP3.
I had no problem until a few days ago when I installed a newer version of Thunderbird because my previous version had a problem sending stuff to print to a wireless printer, and then Mailwasher didn't recognise the different version.

Re: Grid not clearing.
OK great. So what would have happened most likely is ThunderBird defaulted your settings to leaving emails on the server after download.
In ThunderBird go Tools >> Account Settings >> Server Settings >> uncheck the option to Leave Emails on Server After Download >> restart ThunderBird >> this means when ThunderBird checks and retrieves the emails, it will delete the copy off the server removing it from MailWashers view, then when MailWasher does it's next check for messages any missing (downloaded) emails will be removed.
Cheers

Re: Grid not clearing.
Thanks Rustic Dog,
I was sure I'd done that!
Maybe when I started with a new account it changed that too, I guess that would make sense.
Anyway, it's solved the problem.
