Mailwasher crashes after update

Tue Apr 14, 2020 2:20 am

After the newest update of MailwasherPro I got a few times an error (not enough memory) and MailwasherPro crashes. I cannot start it agian, only after restarting the computer (which is not convenient). Any idea what is going wrong?

Try first downloading and running a .NET Repair https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/downloa ... x?id=30135
Takes around 10 minutes.

If the crashes continue, send me some logs. To do that go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter a brief note like 'as per forum' >> in the Ticket Number field enter chris >> Send Logs >> reply back here once sent, so I can check they arrived all OK.

Cheers

Fingers crossed the .NET Repair resolves this. I have never seen this crash before....ever.

Let me know if they continue, might also be worth rebooting after the .NET Repair as well.

Re: Mailwasher crashes after update

On Tue 8th I installed the monthly Win10 updates (which included - November 30, 2020-KB4586876 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 20H2)
Everything seemed to be working OK
Today I got notified about MW mailwasher_pro_setup_7_12_48 which, as always, I had to manually download and then admin installed (seemingly without issue). I have tried repeatedly opening MW but after about 10 seconds, it simply evaporates after having commenced downloading emails. Then I have tried opening MW as admin, repair reinstalling after freshly downloading mailwasher_pro_setup_7_12_48. All to no avail.

Now I have freshly downloaded the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool, which I have run (slowly) and on its (standard?) recommendation, I have uninstalled / rebooted / reinstalled the above KB update. At each point I have tried to run WM, but after about 10 sec, it still evaporates.

Yup sorry abut that, programmers looking at this now.
If you uninstall, answer Yes to keep your data files when prompted, and then install the previous beta that doesn't have this crash

OK, I have a beta which seems to fix this crash, it was being caused by a custom filter.

This version is currently not signed with the EV Certificate, so Windows may warn during install. This version will go up on the autoupdater soon, once I get it properly signed with EV certificate.

Changes Include :
Fix for regex filter crashing MailWasher when Checking Mail

sorry this is past it's sell by date..

mines started crashing today..
first it was doing a mail check, then trying to put messages in date order,
now it will load, allow me to clean unwanted mail, then when it tries to check mail or after about five minutes of just not being used it'll crash,

tried re-install, install old updates, repair all sorts, i even re-booted the PC..!!

been using mailwasher about ten years now maybe more i can't remember but never had a problem like this..

it's also asking to to log out or stay logged in to Yahoo, which is a new one..!!

Using Win 7 if any help.

i've had issues updating for a while now, say's some updates failed.
just done a force update (top right update now) and got three updates, tried to update and failed..

First, try right clicking on the MWpro shortcut and click "Run as Administrator" if it starts and runs without problems, windows must have been blocking it from loading as normal user.

If no better, please ensure that the Windows Updates are current, then run a .NET Repair as described here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/downloa ... x?id=30135

Run windows update again to ensure your PC is fully up to date.

Restart afterwards.

If still no good, you may need to reset MW....

(NOTE: this will reset MW to factory settings, you will need to re-enter all your accounts, lists and filters etc into MWPro, Backup directions below if you wish to do this first)

Can you please uninstall MWPro then browse to the following folders (IF there) and delete the contents:

C:\Program Files\Firetrust
C:\Program Files (x86)\FireTrust
C:\ProgramData\Firetrust

(The last folder is actually hidden, so you may need to enable Windows to show hidden files and folders under,
the Windows Control Panel, Folder Options>>View Tab>>Select, Show hidden files and folders.)

Then try reinstalling MWpro from here:
https://www.firetrust.com/products/mail ... o/download

-----------
To Backup, you just need to save all files from the Help>>User Files folder, if MW wont start, this is under:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\MailWasher

Return to “MailWasher Pro 7”
