access gmail in mailwasher pro not working?

First you want to set GMail to be "When messages are accessed with POP" to be "Keep GMails copy in the Inbox".

Otherwise accessing the account using POP might cause messages to 'vanish' and you want to access this account with multiple programs.


To the issue, unfortunately that version of MailWasher has an outdated version of SSL that is no longer compliant with some mail servers. There does seem to be a workaround however, it is not the nicest, but it should work.

If you close MailWasher so it's not running, then go into the install folder, which should be something like
C:\Program Files (x86)\Firetrust\MailWasher Pro

In that folder replace the files libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll with the ones in the attached Zip file.
Restart MailWasher, you might get an error about SSL on start.

What I found was to reduce errors, under Tools >> General Options >> Connection Options >> set MailWasher to check accounts sequentially >> OK.
Then under General Options >> uncheck Perform default check on startup >> OK.

I do still have trouble getting MailWasher to load multiple SSL accounts when it first checks, so it seems to need a manual Check Mail to get all emails loaded if you are checking more than one account. The SSL error that appears can suppressed by going Tools >> Show the Error Digest >> check Suppress All Errors >> OK.


The newer version of MailWasher has the proper updated SSL working correctly, but that may not be suitable as it is an annual subscription compared to the old.
