Hide & Delete Spam Filter not working*

Well, maybe?
It's not working the way I expect it to work, but possibly it is working the way it is intended.
I have recently been inundated with Spam from emails ending - *xyz and - *space, so had a look at options to AutoDelete.
Found Hide & Delete and set up a filter using - *xyz and - *space, and set to Hide & Autodelete.
When I run MW, the emails are marked as Spam and are marked for delete, but are not hidden in any way.
So I have a list that can be 100 emails long, mostly marked as Spam and can be deleted (so mostly OK).
I had expected the H&D filter to mark as Spam, and then AutoDelete?
The filtered emails sit on MW, marked for Delete, and are deleted with a Wash.
Am I expecting too much or am I missing something?
TIA.

Hi there
It sounds like the filter is not matching on these emails. Otherwise the Status column would display the filter name instead of spam.
Can you post a screenshot of the filter, or just post the details. If you want to protect any information you can also email it to me at
[email protected]
Thanks

Thanks for the help. Added attached.
I have also moved the filter to the top of the priority list, not that that helps...
I am sure I am missing a step but I just can't see it.
Should've gone to Specsavers.

HOLD YOUR HORSES!!
I changed the *.xyz (where * is a wildcard) to just .xyz - and something happened!
Opened MW to see a fleeting Spam email flushed away - AutoDelete.
I will keep you posted...

Great, glad you got it sorted.
The filters don't work the same way as the blacklist/friendslists for wildcards, instead they act greedy.
For example, if you have a filter just looking for the word ted then it would match if a word was stedfast.
When you need to use a wildcard, you then need to use the regular expression format, which can take some learning.
Just to note, as you have done when filtering for a domain, keeping the fullstop helps. Filtering for .space in the FROM, not just space would make sure people with space in their name wouldn't get tagged.

Yep, that's it.
I can see the Filter tag in the Recycle Bin so it has worked.
Thanks for listening and taking the time to respond, sometimes it just takes a little bouncing around.

Could you post a screenshot of that filter ?
Also when you see one of these messages, what is the Status showing in MailWasher ?
