Problem Updating MW7

Fri Jul 03, 2020 3:01 am

I'm currently on MW 7.11.5, when I try to update to 7.12.38 by either double clicking on file in Explorer to run as Administrator or by trying to update from within MW I get the error message, "Could not access network location \\MAC\Home\Desktop\." I'm on the latest Mac and Windows versions, trying to install into Windows. I'm using Parallels on a 2017 Mac. Thanks

This might be a Parallels issue. I would first try uninstalling and reinstalling Parallel Tools
https://kb.parallels.com/4841

Assuming that doesn't resolve the issue :

If you go into C:\ProgramData\Firetrust you'll see several folders, some are named in the format

MWInstall7.11.5
MWInstall7.12.38
etc..

Make a note of the oldest version of MailWasher listed there.

Then try uninstalling MailWasher, opt to keep your data files >> try installing the 7.12.38 version.
http://cdn.firetrust.com/downloads/mail ... _12_38.exe

If that fails, try installing the version of MailWasher listed in that folder that is the oldest. It's possible you'll be prompted to Repair the install. This page lists all the older versions with download links https://www.firetrust.com/products/mail ... change-log

If that still fails, then uninstall whatever version MW you have, (keep data files) try installing 7.11.5 again http://cdn.firetrust.com/downloads/mail ... _11_05.exe

After a long period of problems updating I have finally succeeded. I have MailWasher set to start automatically when Windows starts, ever since about the beginning of the year whenever I updated Windows then MailWasher would act strange when first started and Windows would be unusable. You had to press the on/off switch on back of the Mac to shut down completely, when you then started Windows a second time MailWasher and Windows would be functional. However this last update on Windows messed things up- there was the same problem at first startup but MailWasher and Windows would not function even after being restarted 5-6 times. Updateing Parallels did not help. I then noticed that although nothing worked in Windows the menu bar at the top of the screen for Paralells did work. I tried, "Update Parallels Tools" and presto chango the next time Windows started MW started up nicely and I was able to upgrade to the latest version of MW. Parallels Tools? I hadn't installed the Tools portion of Parallels for quite awhile because a few years ago it trashed my system and required an afternoon spent with Parallels support. OK, things appear to be working now...
