MW Pro 7.12.38
I have received an email (no text) which I know contains only an attachment. However, there is no icon in the attachments column to show that there is an attachment.

When I download the email into my email client the attachment is definitely there. I am sure the icon did display in earlier versions.

Can anyone explain why this is occurring?

Yeah it should, under Settings >> General >> Checking Mail >> try setting the Spam Throttle to 500 lines, restart MailWasher.
