Yahoo email errors
Wondering why the past couple of days I've been getting Yahoo emails that aren't showing in MWP. Anyone else notice that? I checked Errors and see "failed to log into POP3 server" consistently today. Yahoo put out some change instructions for third party apps that have an October deadline, which I seem to recall applying. They are described at https://help.yahoo.com/kb/new-mail-for- ... sions=true. Do those affect MWP? Anything else to know? Thanks,

Re: Yahoo email errors
MailWasher has OAUTH for Yahoo, so it shouldn't be an issue if that is enabled. You can check under Settings >> Accounts >> Incoming >> Advanced.
If not, check this and restart MailWasher. You'll need to go through some extra steps the first time MailWasher checks the account to give it access to the Yahoo mailbox.
Cheers

Re: Yahoo email errors
Did you create an app specific password or are you still just using the one main password for the account ? I take it too that has not changed lately.
Also does the account not work at all, or does it occasionally work in MailWasher ?

Re: Yahoo email errors
I don't think anything changed in that regard. Here are my Yahoo incoming settings in MWP and Yahoo's page for proper settings, at least the ones that were working in MWP until last week (they still work in my email program, Sylpheed):

Re: Yahoo email errors
OK. Uncheck Store Cached Email, it's not relevant to this but is a setting that can seemingly cause some problems at times.
Try going to your Yahoo account, https://login.yahoo.com/account/personalinfo select Account Security >> down the bottom click Manage App Passwords >> generate an app specific password and try using that in MailWasher instead of your master logon.

Re: Yahoo email errors
Before seeing your email I had generated a pw at Yahoo's site, but that didn't work either in its 4 x 4-letter groups or all 16 together, even with cache store unchecked. The strange thing is that when I save the original or the changed version, MWP seems to run a connection check and it always shows as successful. What's to be made of that? Could the server address have changed?
Btw, I doubt whether MWP is considered an app for Yahoo's purposes. That typically means a mobile device app, not a regular desktop/laptop program.

Oh, well if the connection check works then it is logging in all OK.
Flick me some logs. Go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter a note like 'yahoo failing' >> in the Ticket Number field enter chris >> Send Logs >> reply back here once sent.

Re: Yahoo email errors
Great thanks.
Try removing the account from MailWasher >> restart the program >> add the account back in.
It is getting into the account all OK, but failing when asking for the mail. It's not detailing the problem nicely though, but hopefully the account reset gives it a kick.

Re: Yahoo email errors
No luck. I wonder if someone else on this forum has Yahoo in their list and could check their settings against mine.

If you switch it to IMAP, does it then load the emails ?
Optionally too it might be a specific message that MailWasher is falling over on, if you check the webmail, look for any spam messages in the inbox that can be cleared manually.
I also notice your FastMail account is failing to logon with the following error.
-ERR Sorry, you need to create an app password to use this service. See our help for more details.

Re: Yahoo email errors
Your settings are all OK. Otherwise MailWasher wouldn't be able to get into the account at all.

Re: Yahoo email errors
Yahoo is good about filtering spam, unlike many others, so it rarely comes across or even makes it to my Yahoo inbox. But yes, I checked.
Fastmail is at the top of my MWP order. The Fastmail error was the result of my failing to scroll down to Yahoo when playing with some settings, then momentarily, like for three seconds, switching it from POP3 to IMAP. When I switched back, it changed the incoming server address, which I finally noticed this morning and fixed. Fine since. But it's to be noted that for Fastmail an "app" is a mobile device program (phone, tablet), not something like MWP on a Win 10 machine. That and experiences with other programs is why I assume the Yahoo Mail app changes don't apply here.

Re: Yahoo email errors
Yeah you're right, I just checked and my Yahoo account is failing with the same issue when using POP.
When I use IMAP it works as expected. Will have to ask programmers, or it's something on Yahoos end.

Re: Yahoo email errors
My two cents: Yahoo is TOO GOOD at removing "unwanted" emails! I've been trying - occasionally successfully for a while - to have them turn off the spam checker and just let everything through. MWP knows, by now, exactly what I consider spam and what I don't. Right now, though, the spam filter is working - sorta. Can't figure out what the rules are, because some of the stuff they put in spam is something I want to read. Just yelled at them a couple of days ago about the filter, but it didn't seem to do any good. Have resorted to checking the spam bucket once a week, and having those that are worth having moved to the inbox, then I can use MWP to download. The rest I just erase at the server.
