Hi
Every once in a while MailWasher downloads hundreds of emails like this:
EMPTY EMAIL e5b9434424ca3da52c5dadc6c7beeecc C:\Users\Home\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\MailWasher\cache\crypto\e5b9434424ca3da52c5dadc6c7beeeccAcct1994124102.0001
At first I thought it was a DOS attack but when I deleted the emails I found I had deleted MailWasher data!
What should I do?

Re: Mailwasher 7 generates its own spam!
Hi Bill
This can happen if MailWashers internal cache gets out of sync.
Go Settings >> Accounts >> for each account select the Incoming tab >> make sure Store Cached Email is not checked >> Save >> restart MailWasher if any changes were made.
That should fix the immediate issue.
Do you have any kind of cleanup software that might be deleting files, thinking they are extra ?

Thanks for your help.
I have done what you suggested and rebooted the laptop but MW is still downloading these "emails"
I use Avast Cleanup so that is what may be causing the problem

Re: Mailwasher 7 generates its own spam!
It's possible. We've had issues in the past with cleanup software, they see the folder named 'cache' and assume it's something they can remove.
If you go into Help >> User Files >> close MailWasher down so it's not running >> rename the cache folder to something like cache_old >> restart MailWasher.
You're going to lose your Recycle Bin and Trained emails, so will need to teach MailWasher again which are good and spam, but hopefully it sorts this problem out fully.
I would avoid the cleanup program, or if possible tell it to ignore MailWasher and/or the C:\Users\Home\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\MailWasher\ folder.

Hi
Thanks again for your help
I use a back-up program called Carbonite so I restored the cache folder from the online backup and that seems to have fixed the problem. Fingers crossed!
I will avoid cleaning up the FireTrust data in future
Cheers!
