Now Gmail server is returning error

In September I posted about Yahoo problems with MWP. When I finally figured out that the latter needed to use IMAP with Yahoo, Gmail was working fine. I had set the server check to 2 days and could see the message at the bottom of the screen as it did it. Sometime since then it started failing, which I just realized yesterday, but can't figure out why, since nothing I can find has changed. It's for an organization account and both the boss and my emails have had notices for a couple of outsider login attempts recently, but other than that everything looks right in MWP and Gmail's settings, including less secure apps allowed and Gmail forwarding allowed. Not sure where to go with figuring out the problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

When you say it's an organisation account, do you mean it's just a regular GMail account used by a business, or is it a GSuite account ?

If it's GSuite, then GMail has likely disabled access to programs that do not use OAUTH and you would need an App Password to use in MailWasher.


If it's a regular GMail account, does it work in your email program ? and if so, do you know if that program is using OAUTH to access the account.


Interestingly, Digerati has the opposite, his GMail stopped working for reasons unknown and just started working today

It's the community opera organization and I don't know if they use GSuite and will have to check, tho I never heard of it. But did the difference (disable) you speak of occur in the past two weeks? I do not have Gmail set up in my own email program, but simply use MWP for notice that I've received something and should check it out.

GSuite is a bunch of different tools packaged up, including mail. https://gsuite.google.co.nz/intl/en_nz/

If it is a GSuite account, then the final date seems to be Feb 2021. It looks like they suspended the rollout of disabling non OAUTH access due to Covid.

So this is likely not the issue.

I dunno, maybe just odd timing.


Flick me some logs, could be an error coming back that tells us what's going on.
To do that go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter a brief note like 'as per forum - genegold' >> in the Ticket Number field enter chris >> Send Logs >> reply back once sent, so I can check they arrived all OK.

Anyone else having a problem with Gmail and MWP?

Google now has Community help and so I posted there. Today, five days later, and coincidentally just after posting for help again -- it hadn't been fixed as of this morning -- a gmail arrived in MWP. So I guess it's been taken care of.

Great, glad to hear it. Must be some kind of tech glitch they've been having
