Unfortunately not, or at least no way I can think of to achieve that. Possibly something we can look at however as an option.

It seems to me that would be a pretty unique scenario. Most users who allow their monitors to go to sleep also allow their computers to go to sleep just a few minutes later. When the computer is asleep, MW should not be polling mail servers for new mail.

I note with my "Power options" settings, my monitors go to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity. My computer goes to sleep (enters "standby mode") 5 minutes later. Should MWP poll for new mail during that 5 minutes and there is new mail, I will hear the new email notification, but it will not wake my monitors. That works for me.

But since I have MWP set to check for new mail every 10 minutes, and because I get an average of 50 - 60 emails per day, that would leave lots of opportunities for MWP to keep my monitors and my computer awake. Not sure I or many others would want that.

I have SSDs. On many computers with hard drives, especially notebooks to conserve battery runtime, hard drives stop spinning after so many minutes of activity. Do folks want them spinning back up all the time? I don't know, but don't think I would.

And what if, like me (and like everyone should, IMO), your system requires a password to access the Desktop when it boots or comes out of standby/sleep?

What if your computer is in an area where other people have access to it, and you are away from your desk, and a new "private" or "personal" email comes in?

Of course having options is always nice. I just wonder what new problems (technical or security) might arise if this option is implemented and enabled.

While I understand the reasoning behind the idea, I think a great deal of thought should go in the practicality (with security and privacy being paramount) of this option before FT even considers implementing it. JMHO.
