Disappeared mail and other findings

Thu Nov 12, 2020 1:53 am

Hi,
I discovered this morning that I'm missing an email I surely have read yesterday afternoon.
I basically have two often used apps to my mailbox: Mailwasher and my mobile client.
Mails are deleted by me through both, depending on what I'm using.
I've checked the deleted items in the mobile mail app and also the trash bin and logfiles of mailwasher.
I spent even time to go through all the logs and individually clicking every entry of yesterday (through the show all mail option)
No trace to be found.

Then this morning I noticed that mailwasher was showing slightly different entries as to todays emails vs what my mobile was showing.
So I browsed through log files and even took the time to install openssl to login myself to my IMAP mailbox to see what was in there (thanks to the author of this one : https://tewarid.github.io/2011/05/10/ac ... enssl.html ).
I noticed that my mobile client was showing the mails as I saw them myself via the Windows command prompt, whereas Mailwasher was having an erroneous mail in its Trash, yet showing another email as being in the actual inbox.
Also with these regular doubles showing up in the overview because the parser seems to be failing on rich HTML.
So we are being showed emails which might or might not be the actual entries, and a deletion potentially deleting a mail you haven't even seen.
As time passes, my confidence in the tool has neared zero almost.
I don't understand why it takes so much time fixing bugs....
(or why they weren't noticed before release)
And I'm just a regular home user with as little as two dozen private mails and newsletters a day.
Such scenario's are easy to be tested and reproduced.
This is a paid software, not a freeware, please fix the bugs.
Until that time I'm refraining from any further deletion activities through the tool.

Try disabling Fast Startup and if laptop Hybrid Sleep.

Ignore the first steps about disabling regular Sleep and Hibernation, those should be kept. Is just disabling Windows holding extra in memory when entering those states.

I assume too the Store Cached Emails is unchecked ? If not under Settings >> Accounts >> Incoming >> change to POP >> uncheck Store Cached Email >> back to IMAP >> Save.
