Just complaining -- DELUGED with spam today

I have never seen anything like this. I have received over 2,000 of the identical spam email this morning. They come from completely different, made-up addresses to made-up addresses at my domain. It's a message that they want me to pay bitcoin or they will release tapes of my 'activity' online. I have gotten this same mail before, but several at a time, never a bombardment like this!

I don't expect any help, what can you do? I just wanted to complain!!! So annoying!!! I can barely check to see if I have any real mail.

Well, I'm getting no where near 2000 but I am seeing a lot more spam lately too. I assume it "tis the season".

In your case, it seems a new bad guy got ahold of your email address. You are right, unless there is a common word or phase you can create a filter for, there is nothing you can really do. It will pass soon enough.
