Mailwasher on two computers

Hi Nick,

Got a new computer after ten years. Downloaded MW and ticked mark everything as on the old computer.
A) New computer downloads everything into my Thunderbird without being asked and leave the messages on MW. Doesn't allow me to delete those messages.
B) When I turn on the old computer with Thunderbird, when asked, it will load all messages into proper folders BUT delete all previously downloaded in my NEW Thunderbird.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

Hi Peter

In ThunderBird go into Tools >> Account Settings >> on the left select Server Settings for the account, is it listed as POP or IMAP at the top ?

For the issue of ThunderBird downloading the emails automatically, in the same area as above, there are three options to uncheck
Check for new messages at startup
Check for new messages every xx minutes
Automatically download new messages

Thanks

Sorry, Celebrated too early. All emails on the new computer have disappeared again.
Under Server Settings in Thunderbird under my email it states IMAP Mail Server and it cannot be changed ... or I don't know where it could be changed.
Server Name mail.comcast.net
In secondary email address
Server Type POP Mail Server
Server Name: mail.comcast.net
The emails are there ... It looks like it's the IMAP for the first email that causes the problem, but how can I change it?

Thank you.

Peter

I am getting a cryptic message from Thunderbird that IMAP server is not IMAP 4 server ... ?

I think I solved that! Deleted the email with IMAP setting and created a new email with POP! Hope it will work!

Right, I think I misunderstood the issue you first posted. I thought you were migrating to a new computer, not running both.

When you retrieve your emails into ThunderBird, you want them to stay on the server and remain in both copies of Thunderbird on the old and new machines ?
