These fields can be forged pretty easily, so I suspect that's what you're seeing.
If you look at Settings >> Display >> Inbox >> there are two date columns, Sent/Received. If you select to show the other, it ought to show the date you'd expect. I forget which is which on the top of my head, but one can be more accurate than the other.

My "work-around" was to display both "Sent" and "Received" columns in my MW inbox. This way I can see the actual timestamp the email was sent, and when it was received by my email server.
Back in the day, it was not uncommon for emails to take awhile. These days, it is typically <2 minutes.
Of course the downside to displaying both columns is space. I am running with two 24 inch screens so no big deal for me. If you have a single 15" laptop monitor, this work-around may not work for you.

I ran in this future date issue some time ago. I also had senders tell me they sent me emails but I was not seeing them until [supposedly] many hours later.

Are you saying both the Sent and Received say 2033? If so, that I have never seen. And if so, were they all sent to the same email address? Are they from different senders?

Maybe a Custom Filter where the Received column, Doesn't Contain, REGEX
^Date:.+\s2022\s
That might flag the messages that are not from this year

Sorry, that's because I'm an idiot. Try setting instead to HEADER, not RECEIVED.
