I know that this was addressed in 2019, but has come back with Google taking away the less secure accounts option. I noticed a post that said that an app password was needed, but this is happening on my desktop. It happened last week on several of my gmail accounts and then came back the next day. It is back again, and I am wondering if it is just Google servers down, or the end of mailwasher for gmail.
Thunderbird and iphone mail have no problems accessing the emails, complete with all the spam I used to remove with Mailwasher.
Comments, anyone?

Exactly what has happened to me here in Australia. Any solutions?

Yes, you need an App Password. Ignore the phrasing App versus PC, it doesn't matter in this instance.
ThunderBIrd uses OAUTH which MailWasher does not support, to get around that, is when the App Password is needed.

me too, google does not allow any longer the lower security allowance workaround

Without a working solution, I am faced with either changing my gmail address or cancelling my MailWasher program after ten years.

I'm in the same FIX! Thanks, Google. Not!

Yes, PITA.

I went thru it yesterday, so thought I'd recap. There is no more 'less secure app' which we used with POP3/SMTP. So, the only option is to go with '2 Step Verification' and then an "App Password".

It's a PITA, but hopefully only need to do once(ish).

Here's the page you need:

Do the 2 step, then get the App Password.
Then just paste that into the password field of MailWasher and Outlook if you use that, t-bird, etc

I was happy to see the same password works for both, so just need the one for each gmail account you have. I thought Outlook 2010 would not work anymore so I updated to 2021, which I wouldn't have done had I known I could just use APs.
