Deleting Emails

I'm having trouble adjusting. I just had to reset everything because of more google updates, now my emails aren't deleting. Is there something else I have to do or is there a patch or anything? I wound up deleting like 200000 gmail emails yesterday to clear my account because I thought outlook or mailwasher did that but apparently they don't.
