Cooee all
This is my 1st post
Before I did a re-install of the OS, this grouse program was running flawlessly,
but since the new OS, she is not right at all.
I installed Thunderbird, but I did not change over the 2 folders for my profile yet.
I installed Mail Washer, and put in the email settings manually.
When Google Chrome settled down so I could get a word in egde wise,
I copied the 2 folders over to Thunderbird and connected Mial Washer to get the mail.
`It did that OK no worries, 245 since Friday night.
I marked the spam & the good ones (washed the mail) then it opened Thunderbird &
I waited for it to download the emails; it never did

I read the forum where it says to make sure where:-
"In Thunderbird click, Tools>>Account settings >> Click your account >> Server Settings, and uncheck, "Leave messages on server"
I checked in your Mail Washer Program to see if the "import account settings" would pick up the right settings, it picked up NO settings at all.
I don't know how, but I found a setting where I did a repair install, but that did not work.
I then did an un-install & an install, but that did not work either
Sorry about the wall of text, but it is nearly 3am here & I have to finish yeaterdays brekkie & get some sleep & get up & do a full day today with the doctor,
go to the tyre merchant & shopping with the temperature over 30 & humid as stuff because a change is coming man.
Thank you in advance if I forget to say thank. Have a grouse day. I hope i do if i don't fall asleep driving - that would be bad. Lucky I don't sleep much anyway, I am in too much pain to sleep
have a good 1 :p

Yes, it's very frustrating for sure, however sorry but no, there is no way MW can hold your emails, that is not the way it works... it does not download the mail then pass it along to your email client, all it does is show you what is on the mail server, then you delete any unwanted emails, then you open (or MW opens) your email client, then you click send/receive or get mail to download any mail MW did not delete.
Most importantly, although it appears MW sends mail to your email program, it does not....Mailwasher never ever sends, transfers or moves any email on to your email program.
- Mail arrives on the mail server.
- Mailwasher checks for new mail on the mail server and displays it. The email will remain on the mail server.
- Mailwasher deletes the unwanted mail from the mail server.
- Good remaining mail stays on the mail server.
- Your email program starts and downloads the remaining email from the mail server all by itself.
You see Mailwasher is not involved in the process getting the email from the mail server to your email program.
If your email program cannot download mail, try closing MWPro, (as possibly the mail server does not like 2 email programs accessing the mail server within XX seconds) waiting a min, then downloading it with your email program like normal.
If this is no better, then there must be a problem either with your mail server, or email programs setup.... check for any rules or filters in your email program that may be preventing the download, and ensure you are checking the same accounts in your email program that you are in MW.....
Hope that helps!

I closed down MW
Then opened T/Bird & my emails came down the line like usual after I played with the relevant settings
I then reverted them settings & started up MW, but no more mail would be passed on from MW to T/bird like it used to do b4 I re-installed the OS
Maybe I thought you could have pointed me to some settings
I needed to get my emails as I could not play with MW now and I have 300 emails to sort
Now I started MW up, I got these 3 errors in 7 minutes until I stopped MW from checking emails
Description: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.

Like I said in the original post, it was all working fine b4 the OS re-install
I could get MW to check my mail, wash it, start my T/bird to download the emails and close down MW for the next 10 minutes b4 it did a rinse & repeat
Are you saying that is not how MW works on pop3?

No, what I am saying is that MW does not send mail to Thunderbird, (regardless if you use POP or IMAP) it just displays whatever mail is on your ISP's mail server.
You delete anything you don't want,
Then you open Thunderbird and it downloads any mail (from the same mail server, not MW) that you did not delete using MW.
However, if MW is getting errors, that is indeed a MW problem..... please try the below and let us know how it all goes....
First, if you have more than one email account in MW, (Mailwasher) please try clicking, Settings>>General>>Checking mail, and drag the, "Check Throttle" to reliability, (1) (so MW checks the accounts one at a time rather than all at once) click Save and restart MW....?
If no better, for the account/s that have problems, (POP accounts only) disable pipelining under Settings>>Accounts, click your account, click Incoming>>Advanced, and uncheck both, PIPELINING options, click Save, restart MW.
If still no better, can you please try deleting the problem email account and re-importing it.
Please open Mailwasher and click, Settings>>Accounts, click your account and click, "Remove Account", click, "Yes, remove it", close and restart Mailwasher Pro.
In Mailwasher click, Settings>>Accounts "Import Account" and follow the directions.
If there are no amounts listed, cancel to exit this screen and click, Add Account, choose your account type and add account manually.
Full directions are available for this from here:
Mailwasher Pro >> Help >> Help Topics >> Settings Screen >> Accounts
Account settings here for most ISP's if you need them:

Hey gingbat
Sorry for the late reply, I have computer problems as well; I thought a re-install would fix it - it didn't

I only have the 1 email coming in as I routed my gmail to my Dodo account before it gets to MW; I let gmail do the routing.
I went and did the 1st one - "First, if you have more than one email account in MW, (Mailwasher) please try clicking, Settings>>General>>Checking mail, and drag the, "Check Throttle" to reliability, (1) (so MW checks the accounts one at a time rather than all at once) click Save and restart MW....?"
And it was all good after that! It was back to normal, do you believe that?
It lets me know that there is email with a pop-up window. (Do you know how to change that pop-up to the main window? I had several looks, but it is a monitor to my right, and I don't always see it, I just hear it sometimes). It downloads the emails all by itself - perfect. I go through all the emails & select the junk & non junk & select wash; and it does, then it hids itself - perfect. I open it up and hit Thunderbird and it opens Thuderbird and then hids itself. Thunderbird then starts to download all the emails off the server (and I know it will be gone from MW when I go to open it later) - perfect. All new emails will still go to MW, not Thunderbird, even thou it is open - perfect. Just like I had it before it was broken. Another thing. Is there a way to increase the size of the font? It is so, so, so small for an old pensioner to read gingbat. Just fix that & change the pop-up window for new mail, and I will be happy as a pig in shit; even thou I am a Bear (that is my real name, true)
I never tried any of the other things that you wrote down - if it ain't broken .....
Thank you for your help so far
I am watching the Eagles vs Giants game, my 4th for the weekend. I am a Cheesehead

Great! good to hear its all going well now, re the notification, yes, no way to change where that appears sorry, dual monitor notifications in MW can be a little hit or miss, this is one of the many things on the to-do list once we get MWpro 8 out....
Cheers!

It is good to get a win, isn't it. Just put this in the 'how to fix if such & such goes wrong'
Any way to make the font bigger? It is way too small. Can that get fixed in MW 8 too?
Any idea when MW 8 would be out?
I am telling people about this grouse software, it is a must have if you use emails; which is everyone
Thank you once again for your help gingbat

That's not a problem! and yes, sorry about that, forgot about the font size question! as yes, you can increase this in MWpro 7 under "Display Options" >> click the A beside "Zoom" and drag the slider larger or smaller.
The bold option is under Settings>>Display>>Inbox.
No date on MWpro 8 yet either sorry....
Cheers!!

I did not even see those settings to the right, I always looked for settings under settings; but it makes sense to have them there.
It has more features under the hood which I will have to look at over time.
At the moment, I don't want to touch what ain't broke. I will save the settings several times until just right
It is a grouse program MW, everyone should have this program, it beats looking through all the mail going through 1 by 1; is this good or bad, MW learns it for you
Thank you gingbat

That's not a problem, and yes, there's a lot more to the program than what you can see initially for sure, and thanks for the recommendations too, great to hear!!

Thank you for the links, I will read once I fix why my 2 DAS's like to turn off by themselves, and even an OS re-install did not fix; but the software running it keeps showing this file that is not there & everytime it hits that file it does funny things like turn off this DAS or that DAS or just freeze up my computer - aaargh.
I won't tell you that when I hit Thunderbird now, Thunderbird opens but does not download the latest emails from the server, but that is no biggie, I can just hit the download 'new messages' button and it downloads now; the headings are also taken off MW. I think things were easier with pen & paper

At 3am in the morning Elektra, I was looking for bed, not puns.
I did not want to wrap myself in a good pun, only a warm doona mate
