reply button fails

Thu Mar 30, 2023 1:47 am

but only on one friend's emails, and only in Mailwasher. Once downloaded to thunderbird, the reply is ok.
And not all the time, only half the time. Is there anything in the mail that might cause MW to inactivate the reply and forward buttons?
Source:
My friend's emails are frequently not to be replied to on Mailwasher - the reply button does nothing - but once downloaded to thunderbird can be replied to.

Anything there that might be interfering? Hmm. Where does that date icon come from? It's not visible in MW's display of source.

It's getting rendering by the HTML engine of the Board software — BTW, you might want to edit your original post . . . to delete some personal details (or else, you risk opening your friend to spam.) ;)

Does the Reply button in MailWasher fail . . . if Thunderbird is already open & running before you click the Reply button in MailWasher? :think

Could that have anything to do with the failure of the reply button?

Can you describe . . . in detail, what really happens when the Reply button fails, for you.

Let's say you click the Reply button — can you describe what next you see on your display screen . . . if possible, a screenshot would help vastly.

Not at all — the Board software at these forums cannot possibly influence any MailWasher behavior on your computer. :)

Nothing happens. The button blinks and ... nothing. Again and again. Same with the forward button.
It doesn't like something in the email source. But what? And is it fixable?

Okay . . . let's try to re-map your MailWasher's communication with your e-mail client, Thunderbird.

(Can you navigate to) Settings >> General >> Washing Mail >> Use other application >> Browse (manually to where your thunderbird.exe resides . . . as per the following path corresponding to its architecture — 32-bit or 64-bit) >> (select thunderbird.exe, then) Open >> Save.

The 64-bit version of Thunderbird resides at the following default path:—

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe"

The 32-bit version of Thunderbird (when installed on a 64-bit OS,) resides at the following default path:—

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe"

ps:—
It's most important that under the Use other application drop-down menu, you do not fall into the temptation of selecting Thunderbird (in any form) — but instead, use the Browse button through Windows Explorer . . . to re-map the path of your Thunderbird. :!:

Have you checked the LOG file for that account?

HELP > USER FILES > LOGS then the logs for the date it happened on, then check these logs and look at the time it happened, usually would be at the bottom, all are TEXT files:

MWPapi.log
MWPapp_account name.log where "account.name" is the account where the problem happens.

If MWP had an error, it would show there.

Thank you!
That set me straight, I think. I'll let you know if it doesn't. I suspect the problem was I had the "Launch after washing mail" checked and I was replying before washing the list.
Duh?
But it only starting happening recently!

Nope that didn't do it.
and the Launch after washing mail only applies to bringing Tbird to the front after the wash, doesn't govern reply.
Maybe after a restart?

All from the same sender, same day. Haven't tried re-installing MW or Tbird.

Failure? to delete.

Mails previously deleted by MW come back - but only a certain segment -
in this case those from 3-1-23 to 3-23-23. So my total mail will jump from 230 to 720 on a check mail.
That's happened three times, so the re-deletes are not working.

And if in error I download mail to Tbird, I find dupes in every folder for those messages.

Should I ask hevanet if something is preventing MW from deleting some or certain mails?
I doubt he'll have an answer.
Is there a setting in MW that permits this that I should change? Or at the provider?
