Crashing as it checks for spam

Tonight when i opened the program on both my desktop and laptop it starts to check mail. Loads all the mail, then as it's checking against the spam the program crashes. I don't have time to click on send support logs before it goes away. I have deleted the startup.xml, spamreporting.xml, display.xml, and the accounts.xml

The program rebuilds them, including finding all my emails, then it crashes.

please advise. Thanks in advance.

Having the same problem. I have also done all the above deletion of xml files, and still it crashes. And it just started this morning.

Help?

Add me to the list too. I thought it might have been a Win11 update as I'm on one of the Insider programs but I'm getting exactly the same as others. Totally deleting the app, rebooting and installing fresh doesn't see to fix it.

Nope - just opened MW. it checked for emails then started to classify emails and crashed (not even to a background task)

Same thing just started happening to me today, crashing out as it evaluates a message. Thought it may have been a spam message so logged into my provider's webmail and no, it was just a normal message from a sender I've received many messages from before.

OK, can you please try disabling Firstalert, as we've noticed a few users having issues with this:

(when MW starts, click Stop, to stop the mail check first)

Settings>>Spam Tools>>Firstalert, uncheck, "Use Firstalert" and click Save.

If no better, disable any servers listed under Settings>>Spam Tools>>Origin of Spam, click Save.

Let me know if either helps?

Happening to me too -- was working fine earlier today.

Sorry, posted my reply before I saw the note about disabling FirstAlert. That helped.

Disabling FirstAlert seems to be working.
It's a trick to get to the "Stop" before the program crashes but I was able to get it.

I ended up rolling back to previous version until they get this glitch fixed.

NOTE: if you cannot do the above because MW crashes before you can stop the mail check, try this.....

Go to Start, type run (then click the Run file so it runs) then in the ‘Open:’ box type (or copy / paste):

%AppData%\Firetrust\MailWasher

Rename the current "SpamToolSettings.xml" file to "SpamToolSettingsOLD.xml" (or remove it).

Then move the attached one into the same folder.

Start MWpro.

I disabled it in the rolled back version, updated to latest, and disabling Firstalert. All good.
