Out of the blue I am getting "Unknown error" for each of my connected email accounts. My inbox is now empty and all of the emails in the recycle bin are missing as well

One such error below they all say the same thing except the <ID</ID> changes for each email account.

Description: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.

Diagnosis: <EVENT><NAME>MWPEXCEPTION</NAME><ID>32660e6fecb0d625dfffe1ad56cf91a0</ID><DT>2023-11-11 19:05:47</DT><MWPEXCEPTION><UID>Exception a5d1cf3d25311a26c64d7c098c4385a3</UID><AID>Acct1631441441</AID><SOURCE>MWPfetch::FetchThread()</SOURCE><MESSAGE>StdException - Unknown exception</MESSAGE><ADDXML></ADDXML></MWPEXCEPTION><ORDINAL>0</ORDINAL></EVENT>

Me too. Everything was working fine yesterday evening, This morning when I started MailWasher the inbox appeared ad normal (a list of all messages on my own mail server and for my gmail account.

Suddenly the Inbox list was cleared without intervention from me, with the following Even Log entry (I wonder what is signified by "UnlockComponent Failed" ):
--------------------
Description: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.

Diagnosis: <EVENT><NAME>MWPEXCEPTION</NAME><ID>69cd90944a5c502ed4aac6ccc4c13cd6</ID><DT>2023-11-12 11:49:36</DT><MWPEXCEPTION><UID>Exception df9eb9aea54a165af8e115997798c8cb</UID><AID>MWPfilterMsgDll::DoCommand</AID><SOURCE>MWPfilterMsgDll::DoCommand</SOURCE><MESSAGE>StdException - chs.UnlockComponent Failed</MESSAGE><EXCEPTION><SOURCE>MWPfilterMsgDll::DoCommand</SOURCE><ADD_ID>MWPfilterMsgDll::DoCommand</ADD_ID><MSG>StdException - chs.UnlockComponent Failed</MSG></EXCEPTION></MWPEXCEPTION><ORDINAL>0</ORDINAL></EVENT>
--------------------

I wonder what, if anything, is the significance of "UnlockComponent Failed"

From then on, every time I try to check the accounts the error si:
---------------------
Description: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.

Diagnosis: <EVENT><NAME>MWPEXCEPTION</NAME><ID>95b376115c40cfc51c8c8faaa8d05ee5</ID><DT>2023-11-12 11:52:02</DT><MWPEXCEPTION><UID>Exception a5d1cf3d25311a26c64d7c098c4385a3</UID><AID>Acct85986311</AID><SOURCE>MWPfetch::FetchThread()</SOURCE><MESSAGE>StdException - Unknown exception</MESSAGE><ADDXML></ADDXML></MWPEXCEPTION><ORDINAL>0</ORDINAL></EVENT>
---------------------

Notice that "UnlockComponent Failed" no longer appears, after the initial time.

For completeness, I did a repair of MailWasher but that didn't help.

Via webmail I can see that messages do exist on my own mail server and in my gmail account, so why out of the blue this morning is MW no longer able to populate the Inbox list?

I'm having a similar problem. It was all working 5 hours ago. It won't log in to any of my email accounts, and my client (Eudora, yes, I know it's old) stopped at the same time. But, the other odd thing is that I have a 2nd Eudora setup for different accounts, and that's working fine. So, something screwed up configurations or some common file on the 2 programs, but not the third one.

Yes, sorry about this, not sure what's going on as yet, I just got in and mine is failing too, seems to have started around 1PM today (Sunday) NZ time... oddly enough, the older 7.12.167 version I have on a windows 8 VM is working fine still though... checking up on this and will report back as soon as I find out what's happening.....

At initial startup this morning Perth time MW was working and then suddenly when the next mail check was initialised "ping" was heard and the error log tab appeared. Like everyone here has reported it said "unknown error". I also noiced that the Wash mail button was greyed out.

Hope someone can sort it out soon.

I decided to uninstall MWP 7.12.173 and install a previous version - viz, MWP 7.12.119.

Yippee, it works fine :-)

Will see if it suffers any problems and if not I will stick with that version.

I'm having similar error message issues, uninstalled 7.12.173 and reinstalled 7.12.125. I'm getting mail again, but my Wash Mail button is greyed out.

I'm having the same problem. Fine yesterday, not working today. I've contacted support because when I tried to log in to the forum and site, I was told I don't exist, though my user details have not been changed.
Maybe Mailwasher is having an off day. Certainly sounds like this isn't an isolated incident. Looking forward to a resolution.

Yes I'm having the same problem with unknown error everytime it tries to check mail. Started about 11am this morning (Perth WA time). Can't even send error code logs as it fails and I just get more error codes.

Having the same issue and see the following :
Description: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.

Diagnosis: <EVENT><NAME>MWPEXCEPTION</NAME><ID>f0a5ed9425d072129b3d5c9ce96a2cab</ID><DT>2023-11-12 08:40:35</DT><MWPEXCEPTION><UID>Exception a5d1cf3d25311a26c64d7c098c4385a3</UID><AID>Acct2953100</AID><SOURCE>MWPfetch::FetchThread()</SOURCE><MESSAGE>StdException - Unknown exception</MESSAGE><ADDXML></ADDXML></MWPEXCEPTION><ORDINAL>0</ORDINAL></EVENT>

For now, just bypassing MailWasher and dealing with junk manually, which is a real pain.

I would suggest that you uninstall MWP 7.12.173 - I used CCleaner/Tools uninstaller to remove the program (but kept user settings) and then downloaded an earlier version 7.12.119 from here https://www.firetrust.com/products/mail ... change-log

I didn't try 7.12.125 because I thought it was a bit too close to 173. And as Jypsy reported version 125 also had the greyed out Wash mail button as does 173.

I followed advice given here and uninstalled 173 and installed 125 and that is working okay with no errors so we'll see how that goes.
