A couple of days ago my previously fine Mailwasher Pro program on my main PC stopped downloading emails - beeping each time it tried. The Errors page showed the 'An unknown error has occurred'. I use Thunderbird for my actual mail, with - obviously - the same server settings as Mailwasher, and this continued to work OK. I copied and pasted all the settings from Thunderbird to Mailwasher - apart from the server password - but Mailwasher still refused to connect, as shown when updating the Account settings. I could not copy/paste the password, as it showed just as blobs in Thunderbird, but even when I pasted from my stored passwords file, Mailwasher still failed to connect.
I was stymied and rather baffled. I tried removing and repairing/reinstalling Mailwasher - to no avail.
I then thought of installing Mailwasher on my Surface Pro, to see if it would work there.
As it was a completely new installation, when started Mailwasher asked if I wanted to import any accounts from my installed main Mail program - Thunderbird, which I thought might be a good wheeze, and so it proved. Mailwasher downloaded mails OK. I checked all the server settings with those on my main PC, but could spot no differences.
So, I uninstalled Mailwasher from my main PC, NOT keeping the existing settings. I downloaded the latest Mailwasher Pro installation file from Firetrust, and installed it. When it started, it asked if I wished to copy any account settings from Thunderbird, and I said Yes. Mailwasher then ran and behaved perfectly.
Possibly there was a glitch somewhere in the files, or the password WAS different, but so many other people seem to be having the same problem that I think it must be the former. So that's my solution, which I hope may help others.
One small curiosity - despite removing the existing settings, somehow Mailwasher found my Registration key so I did not have to re-install it. However, it might might be a good idea to make sure you have it stored, just in case!

Re: An unknown error has occurred - SOLVED!
Thank you for your report. However, sadly, had you checked the list of threads in this MailWasher Pro 7 forum to see if anyone else had this "unknown error" problem before creating your own on this topic, you would have seen MANY MANY reports of this problem as it affected essentially everyone. This thread, started on Nov 11, even has 15 pages of similar reports.
There was even a MWPro Down official announcement here on it, that even includes a link the newest version that fixed the problem. It would have saved you all that time and effort.
So, for future reference, any time you visit a forum to report a problem, you can save yourself time and effort by checking to see if anyone else has already reported the same problem as you. Note this is standard operating procedure for EVERY support forum - not just for MailWasher here at Firetrust.
Again, thanks for your report and I am glad you got it sorted out.
Have a good day.

Re: An unknown error has occurred - SOLVED!
I am aware of the standard operating procedures on forums, and did see the numerous Unknown Error references and started to read some of the 15 pages of posts but must admit I gave up fairly quickly. I followed your link and guess you are referring to 'MWPro Down' , which I might have missed as it did not necessarily indicate an association with the 'Unknown Error' threads. For anyone like me who missed the connection, I thought that the inclusion of SOLVED! might get them back on line even if I was repeating a solution that appeared elsewhere.

And again, thanks for your report. Hopefully, anyone who might have encountered this problem working again now.
