Washing does not delete messages in IMAP

Tue Jul 13, 2010 5:49 am

Hello. I'm switching my email from a pop server on Yahoo to an IMAP server on AIM, but I'm having a problem. When I mark mail for deletion in MW (I just upgraded to the new one) it delets the mail from MW and puts it in the MW recycle bin, but it does not do anything on the server side. When I look there, the email is still in the inbox, and if I check mail again, that mail gets downloaded again. What is going on? Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks!

I've reported this problem as a part of the beta testing process so it is something that they know about.

I haven't found a solution - and the old v6.x version has the same problem.

Heh, yeah, so does V 5.53 which is what I was using. Sounds like a something funny on AOL's side, except that Thunderbird works, so it should be possible.

Thanks for the info though!

Would this work in the interim ?
To download mail from your AIM Mail account into your email program using POP:

* Create a new account with the following settings:
o POP (incoming mail) server: pop.aim.com.
o POP login: your AIM Mail login name (your AIM screen name; do not append "@aim.com").
o POP password: your AIM password.
o POP port: 110.

Thanks for finding that. That works fine for me. AIM didn't offer POP3 in the past so I didn't think to look.

Note that you can log on securely (you can check "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)") if you want.
