I have been using the old Mailwasher for a year and just downloaded the new trial version 2010.1.0.4 and there is something strange!

When I check my mail all eamils come up grey. My white-list was imported and is present but it does not change the emails from people on it to green; nor does it make the spam mails red. I have to keep choosing the thumbs up and thumbs down in order to get the coloured row. That can't be right so can someone tell me what I've done wrong?

You really should post version 2010 questions in the 2010 forum here, not the v5-v6 forum.

Do you have the spam tool sidebar visible? It will tell you which tools are being triggered by the selected message.
Once you have it visible you can confirm that your friends list is triggered as well as see what the other tools have done. Depending on the other tools your Friends list may or may not be enough to force MW to consider a message as good. That is as intended as spammers are stealing addresses and forging mail from them which makes the friends list subject to being fooled.

You can give the friends list more classification points if you want to but I'd suggest you continue to classify messages until you have done a couple hundred both good and spam before tweaking the default settings.
