The FAQ provided easy instructions for Outlook to turn off auto checking by the mail program:
Outlook
1.Select Tools > Options from the main menu.
2.Select the Mail Setup tab and click Send/Receive.
3.Deselect Schedule an automatic send and receive every ( ) minutes checkbox.
In item (3) there are no check marks in any of the tabs and the interval for checking is a 1 minute and can not be 0 or ( ).
Yet before I get to the MailWasher Pro program to view, all emails have already been downloaded to Outlook 2003.
Can someone help on this because at this point MailWasher does not help at all like prior to using Outlook. Going back to what I used before is not an option.
Where else can I check to stop this auto mail checking and downloading?

Do you have Outlook set to check mail on startup? That is in the same area as the other settings.

Can you check the accounts settings, not the groups settings? I don't use Outlook or have it loaded on my computer or I'd include a screenshot of what I am talking about.

Looks like the place I highlighted is the right one as I found this on another forum: http://www.officekb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/ ... mail-check

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
Thank you for your comments but as indicated none of the mail checking had been checked.
Also, some where there is a startup for Outlook since it is in my taskbar tray. This is not in preferences to set nor in MSCONFIG.
Any thoughts as to how to get rid of this stratup item?

Not sure what your OS is but try looking in C:\Documents and Settings\ in both All Users and your Logon Name in the folder marked Start Menu, Programs, Startup.cyclone3211 wrote: Also, some where there is a startup for Outlook since it is in my taskbar tray. Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
There must be a way to turn off auto mail checking in outlook 2003 or all those who have this version of Outlook will find that MailWasher Pro has no value!
That being said, I have been a long time user of MailWasher Pro and not a long term user of Outlook but at this point, I must use Outlook.
Either eliminate MailWasher Pro or move to Outlook 2007, if Outlook 2007 will be able to stop this automatic downloading of email.
I currently use Win7 as my OS and gMail to collect all of my email accounts and then would use MailWasher Pro to eliminate what I do not want to be downloaded to my PC.
So I really need help to find a way to use a version of Outlook and still use MailWasher Pro.
HELP!

I'm on a later version of Outlook but you should be able to to Tools, Options, Mail Setup, Send Receive: And it should take you here, where you untick the check boxes: If you have a problem locating the above use the Outlook Help.cyclone3211 wrote:So I really need help to find a way to use a version of Outlook and still use MailWasher Pro.

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
Thank you for your reply but that has been suggested in a prior response and was indicated in the beginning that these items were clear.
Nope, not the answer.
I have done the following:
In the Tools; Send/Receive; Send/Receive Settings; both Disable Scheduled Send/Receive and Make This Folder Available Offline have been checked.
As of today, thus far, nothing appears to have been downloaded. This might be the answer?

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
What I have tried to date has not worked. Today, I thought that I may have created my own problem providing Outlook 2003 with my email accounts. Since every time I start Outlook 2003 my emails for that day are there already making MW obsolete..................but I want to use MW!
Since I have setup Outlook to receive from MW, does it make sense that I should remove the other email accounts that I have within Outlook?
Can I operate Outlook 2003 without indicating any email accounts for Incoming and just leave the Outgoing part of those accounts with only MW to be able to send mail to Outlook?
B4 I remove all of the email setups from Outlook, does this approach make sense and will it work?

I think that there may be one more setting, will come back with another post after investigating.

No, you do not need to and should not remove any account from Outlook.cyclone3211 wrote:What I have tried to date has not worked.
