Allow MW to make new mail sound when active.

MW does not make the new-mail sound when the MW window is active, that prevents you from finding out about new mail unless you are looking at the screen when it arrives. I put in a suggestion to change that if the user would like to hear the sound all the time.

MW does not play the New Mail sound if you have the MW window active. This means you must remember to click outside the MW window or open another window on top of the MW window or you won't be notified of new mail.

I'd like to see an option to play the New Mail sound every time there is new mail regardless of the active state of the MW window.

Just noticed that if you have a different tab selected than the inbox you do not get a notification sound when new mail arrives. That might need looked at too.

The playback of sounds is generally pretty flaky in the new version.

You have thrown some light on why I sometimes hear the custom sound but often don't.

As you say, needs fixing.

You will not get a new notification sound if MWP has the input focus

If you minimize MWP and select another application then you should get the sounds.

About all you can do to get the sound to play every time is to keep a second program running so you can open its window over the MW window. Any time MW is the selected window the sound won't play. If you forget to select the other window before you look away from your computer the sound won't play.

Edit: Minimizing works too if you remember it every time.
