Preferred the old interface

I downloaded the trial version of MWPro 2010 but couldn't stand the new interface and have gone back to my (old) current version - all those stupid graphics and cat and colours drive me nuts - it's incredibly childish Is there a way of having the old, simple, user-friendly, eye-soothing interface without all the rubbish with the new version?

Wow flaques48 - please don't take this personal - but you opinion is just that - an opinion. You could have said that you weren't happy with the current layout - no need to denigrate the developer's and "decision makers" who designed the layout.

You can though eliminate the cat graphic through the View menu, and if it's too your preference you can also reduce the size of the toolbar icons under Quick Display.
There's also an Opacity slider to reduce the colour depth and colour pickers to choose a different range for the Spam/Good/Unknown.

So doing all those I don't think it really is much different than the old version.

One of the first things I did was hit all the buttons to see what they do!

The Quick Display button pretty much addressed all my preferences.

Yeap, about the only thing really missing is a better range of colours for those who are colour blind, which we'll add soon.

So did I - this new and 'improved' version is really not an improvement at all.

The big problem I have is that it does not display the email on start up - you have to click on the email you want to check - and this is a lot of clicks if you get over 100 emails a day believe me!

It's also slow and clucnky and not at all intuitive and very different from Version 6.

Sorry guys but (without being childish) this is a BIG step backwards IMHO.

I have asked for my $10 to be refunded and have reverted to the excellent Ver 6.5 (which still includes a bounce facility - even if it doesnt do much, I still like the idea of pretending not to exist!).

Suggest you get the design team to try again - or take them round the back and shoot them? (woops - too childish a notion perhaps).

The option is there to check default accounts on startup.

(which still includes a bounce facility - even if it doesnt do much, I still like the idea of pretending not to exist!).

The Bounce feature is still there, just no column for it. Within the message preview pane there is a mark for bounce action.

I'm afraid you may have misunderstood - the 2010 does check all the accounts (in my case 6) but in the pane below (default set-up) it does not display the content of the message unless you click on the email in the pane above.

Thus once the program loads (I do not leave it on or minimised due to other program requirements but open it afresh each time I want to check my email) you have to click on the email in the top box. Having to click on the email in the top panel each time to read it in the bottom panel is a new and unwelcome inclusion that is happily not required in any previous version.

I have been a paid up MailWasherPro user for several years and (until now) have been delighted with the software.

OK sure. We do that by design as we found that if MailWasher automatically selects a message when you load messages in the list this can create 'jumping'.

I'm not sure why you said it's so many clicks though, as we're only talking about the first selected message, old MailWasher or new MailWasher both require you to select which message you want to preview so an equal amount of clicks...

Once the first message is selected the arrow keys move freely up and down the grid.

It isn't pretending not to exist when you bounce most of the spam today, it is abusing other innocent folks that the spammers have decided to direct your forged bounce to. Spammers are not stupid, just criminal and they have figured out how to turn the forged bounces to their advantage.

So as an example if I bounced my spam then aside from the good bit that would come directly back to me since it appears to be from me over 95% would go to an innocent bystander or a non-existent account where it would be ignored by the incoming server. The last 5% would likely also go astray but it isn't obvious from just looking at the header and not worth the time to make sure.

Today you should only bounce messages that you are sure are not forged. You should not bounce if your ISP has rules about forging mail headers either, you don't need an abuse complaint filed against you.

OK - yes I know the extra click is only an extra click but when you're going through dozens of emails it is easier, with the first one already selected, to scroll through them with the arrow key.

And yes how awful to bounce an email to the wrong person - shame on me.

You guys are so ready to tell me what I want - I know what I want already, you see, because I am the customer.

And the customer, in this instance, doesnt like your new software.

Do not confuse the opinions of other customers with the opinions of Firetrust employees.

If you want to bounce and help the spammers there is nothing I can do about it until you bounce one to me. If you do that you can be assured I'll make the attempt to have your ISP enforce their contract with you. It is probably a personality defect with me but I derive great joy from hammering spammers and the folks that support them.

Barks - I've been on the net for over 13+ years with the same e-mail addresses. Every year - I get a ton of SPAM with my e-mail as the return address. So, when MailWasher "bounces" the mail - guess who gets it? Yuppa - poor user's like myself that have had their e-mail spoofed. Just about 90% of all SPAM has spoofed e-mail return addresses. It wasn't like that at the beginning. Spammer's actually used their e-mail as a return address. Over the years - Spammer's found out that user's were getting more savy and causing the Spammer's ISP to shut down their e-mail address. MailWasher was a fantastic remedy (bounce feature) when it first came out and for a number of years afterwards. Unfortuantely, over the past few years - boucing (IMHO) isn't usefull. If you want to send something to the Spammer - most of the time you have to look inside the message to see their address (they leave it so you can apply for the zillion dollars they are offering). I have resorted (when I have free time) to look inside the message and send it to the ISP (i.e., YAHOO e-mail embedded in the message) and have them shut down that way (you actually get verification from Yahoo when they shut it down.) Anyway, IMHO - the power of MailWasher is the ability to review all the mail (and classify) before you tie up your PC.
