Loaded the new version of MW on my desktop PC Win XP SP3. I cannot open the registration window to activate the software.
From the help menu I select Registration click the icon and nothing happens. No window opens and no error messages.
I have checked that my version of XP is up to date and tried reloading the software with the Firewall turned off. It still wont open the activation window.

Do you have any type of pop-up blocker active?Fat Controller wrote:Loaded the new version of MW on my desktop PC Win XP SP3. I cannot open the registration window to activate the software.

I don't think any popup blocker would stop this kind of thing. What it might be is the Display Drivers being out of date. Check out this post for some links on checking for up to date drivers http://forum.firetrust.com/viewtopic.ph ... 128#p30129

Thank you for your replies
I've tried to re-open the register window after disabling my firewall but still no luck.
On the advice of your tech staff I repaired MS.Net Framework 3.5 SP1 via Control Panel Add Remove Programs, again without success but this did reveal I also have MS.Net Framework 1.1 and 2.0 SP and 3.0 SP installed. Do I need all these?
I re-installing the software with Firewall and anti-virus turned off. Still no luck.

I checked both IE and Firefox. I turned off pop up blocker on both and it made no difference.Sidewinder wrote: Do you have any type of pop-up blocker active?
Thanks for the tip. I tried updating my display drivers but I have the latest software. (I used Driver Inspector to check not Windows)rusticdog wrote:I don't think any popup blocker would stop this kind of thing. What it might be is the Display Drivers being out of date. Yes you do need to keep the older versions of .Net installed.

Can you go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter chris as the Ticket Number >> Send Logs.
Will see if there's anything in there that might help programmer figure this out.

Re: Cannot Register new Version of MW in Win XP
Great. Nothing obvious so I need to talk to programmer.
How many days left on the trial ? I have a work around but it's not going to help us resolve the solution long term, as I can find 2 others that have had the same problem. So if possible I'd like to talk to programmer and see if we can figure this out, that is of course if you're up to possible pokery/test versions. Just as happy to resolve now using the shortcut method

I have 30 days left of my trail as I reloaded the software yesterday trying different combinations. i.e. with and without firewall loaded. The problem is also being checked by your support section as I contacted them first.
Kind regards,

OK great. I'll close off the other support ticket as Marcus would most likely use our workaround next

Re: Cannot Register new Version of MW in Win XP
We'll add some more logging into the next version, we think ti might happen if for some reason MailWasher has troubles trying to determine the number of days left in the trial
Thanks

Re: Cannot Register new Version of MW in Win XP
Interestingly I still have 30 days left of my free trial. I reloaded the software the day before yesterday so I would expect to have only 29 or 28 days left. I'll watch it for another day or so and see if it starts to count down. Keep you posted.

Re: Cannot Register new Version of MW in Win XP
OK, the 30 days left sounds a bit dodgy.
We've got the new beta which we added extra logging in for this. I would not expect this version to work for the Registration screen, but it will log some information to hopefully help us track down the issue. There is no requirement to uninstall the old version, it will install fine over the top.
If you install this, then after recreating the problem, go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter chris as the Ticket Number >> Send Logs.
Other Changes Include :
High Priority Errors now play the Windows exclamation sound. (only if sound notification enabled)
Updates folder now defaults to the User Application Data folder. Hopefully to stop people getting told there are no updates.
LIST command no longer sent if email account has 0 messages
Double clicking over Classification and Delete columns no longer open the Preview Window
Added Play button to test sounds. Note : Don't play a sound that doesn't exist
Header Preview state now saves between sessions
Fix for DNSBLs not showing matched emails
Fix for IncrediMail not opening
Fox for non ASCII characters in Custom Filters
Fix for emails with large 'salad' crashing regular expression engine
Fix for AT&T accounts not checking properly
Fix for messages not restoring via GMail (may impact other email providers also)
Fix for TLS not saving in Outgoing Mail settings
Fix for MailWasher not taking negative screen position into account
Fix for not being able to resize MailWasher on multiple monitors
Fix for crash when row selection changes while row is in invalid state. Whatever that means.
Fix for crash when marking email as read when row has already been deleted
Fix for high CPU use when Event Log is flashing
Fix for Group Headers not expanding
Fix for stall on evaluation with FirstAlert
