Stuck at splash screen

Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:56 am

I am stuck at the splash screen and the text: Waiting for server app ready flag.
Nothing more happens. I have reinstalled net 3.5, open the firewall both in windows and in my router but no luck. I have windows vista.
Any ideas?

Go to task manager and end the MailWasherPro.exe & MailWasherProApp.exe processes and try starting again.

Also both of these should be allowed in your firewall.

I have already done that several times. The only way to get the splash screen to dissapear.

These 2 files are already allowed in the firewall.

Is it possible that your security software allows both .exe files to communicate with each other or it may be blocking one of them from functioning.

I expect this is one of the major issues we're trying to fix now.

It has to do with non ASCII characters being in the path to where MailWasher stores the database, in theory if you convert the path name to UTF8 then pass to SQLIte it should work, however for some reason ours is not. This is then preventing things from starting properly.

Hello there,

Has there been any progress with this issue? I'm getting the same thing here (Mailwasher hangs waiting for server app to start). I've pretty much exhausted all the other possibilities as the root cause (security software, data file corruption, reinstall, etc.) and in my particular case MailWasherProApp.exe executes and immediately terminates, most of the time the termination is instantaneous and it doesn't even appear in the task manager. I have another copy of MW running successfully on a different PC, with the only discernible difference being that the one with the problem has a non ASCII character in the path.

I am using the most recent MW build.

Yes it's been fixed for Latin1, but not Cyrillic.....what's the path MailWasher is trying to use ?

Hm. That's weird then. It's using C:\Users\Paweł O\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\MailWasher for its database and the usual Program Files default for the app files. Any other ideas what could be causing such behaviour then?

Cheers.

Ah, seems like it isn't working for that one. I'll get the programmer to take a look and fix as soon as he can

Still not working for me with the latest version (1.0.15). I'm guessing the fix didn't make the cut for this release? Any ETA? :)

Sorry about that, it's quite a complicated issue. Programmer will be taking a look at this next week though.

Sure, no worries, all software has its growing pains, quite used to that. Thanks for the update, good luck with everything else :)

I'd really like to see the splash screen disappear after a few seconds. It's really frustrating to have it hogging the screen, intruding on other work one is trying to get done. Very rude and inconsiderate of MWP users. Bad form, especially since it stays there over 2 minutes!
