Why I switched back to Mailwasher 6.1

$10 for the new version, plus an extra license for free. Sounds good, I don't mind paying $10, so I paid. Then I discover that now I gotta pay $10 a year for life! Well, that's still not terribly expensive, but there should be an option to pay a higher price for lifetime upgrades, just my 2¢ worth.
OK, so far, so good, that's not the reason I switched back. I can live with $10 a year, but I probably won't be using the second free license. We'll see. For now I'm not using it at all. I'm back to 6.1.
I like the added features of the new version, and the interface is a bit prettier, but it is just plain unstable and very delicate. It frequently freezes up and the only way out is to try to kill it with task manager. Often I can't even bring up task manager because it has frozen my entire computer requiring a cold boot to escape.
I don't have time for that kind of stuff. I need something that is stable. Also the icons to click on are so small I have trouble getting them.
Now I've given you 5¢ worth. Inflation!

Does the freeze happen on specific actions ? If you you still have it installed, go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter
chris as the Ticket Number >> Send Logs.
Will take a look.

I totally agree with you. I was a bit acid in a previous post (talking about the money they made selling this ... ), but the product is well bellow the previous one.

I sent the report you requested. I can't figure out how to reply here without quoting. Also can't figure out how to subscribe to a topic. I'm registered with the email <removed>. How do I join the registered users group?

That graphic is misleading, if it says subscribe with a tick mark you ARE NOT subscribed, if you are subscribed it changes to an unsubscribe link.

You expect
logic in things like that?
Silly billy,
These things baffle me all the time. Then again, so does life.

Unless you've altered the setting the forums automatically subscribe you to any thread you create or reply in.
As for the lgos, some good info, errors we've not seen before. Can I get more details, if you go into the new MailWasher, Help >> User Files >> just zip and email me the full Logs folder. Some of the errors happened on earlier days and the Support Logs email only sends the most recent days activity.
Cheers

OK, I went through the user settings and changed some of them to those recommended for people who only have one CPU. It seems that the biggest problem with the program is that it uses way too many resources for my computer to handle. I've only got a 1.6GHz clock and 2 Gb of RAM. The extra features are nice, but maybe I don't have enough computer to handle the program.
As to emailing you, where do I find your email address?
BTW, I wasn't automatically subscribed to the thread, but I figured out how to do it. Sometimes I get notifications and sometimes not....

I tried to email the file to you but it won't send. It's 16 Mb. Bigger than my first hard drive. Please right click on this link:
http://www.republicanforum.com/ftp/logs.zip and "save link as" or "save target as."

Great got it.
One other thing you could do is limit how many accounts MailWasher checks at once, this would ease CPU load considerably, though obviously cause the full logon/logout procedure to be slower. Under Settings >> General >> Checking Mail >> there's a throttle there, try setting it to just 2 or 3.
