How to get MW 7.15 to work with New Outlook

I know I'm probably late to the party, but: I have been using MW for years with 3 different accounts, one of which is a NetAddress account. Today, I decided to see what all this New Outlook hoo-hah is all about

I've managed to get myself to the point with New OL where I can read and process mail. However, I note that New is showing mail in its Inbox (some tagged for deletion), but which has not yet been washed.

Is this just a show-stopper problem that means I'll have to abandon MW? Or are there ways to make MW and New Outlook play well together?

Yes, from what I understand, there is no way to prevent Outlook NEW from automatically downloading mail, as it runs in the background and has no option for disabling that function...

Personally I'd use another email client like (Thunderbird for example) as that can be set to NOT auto download mail for both POP and IMAP accounts....

If you have Windows 11 you can go to Settings/Apps/New Outlook/Advanced Settings and it has a dropdown for background and set it to never.

Windows 10
You need to go to setting then apps and features
click on Outlook then advanced options
Then turn off Background Apps
