HELP! Can't run MW Pro 2010

Sat Aug 07, 2010 4:15 am

I installed the new Mailwasher pro 2010 after I paid for it and installed it with no errors. But everytime I try to launch the program I get an error popup asking me to check for a solution online or close the program.

Here is the error info:

I'm running windows 7 pro 64bit. 640gb hard drive, 8gb RAM.

Please help.

I also have Mailwasher 6.53 installed.

Is there a 64bit version of the Mailwasher pro 2010 I can download or you can email me.

No 64 bit version is available but the current one runs fine in 64 bit systems.

The start up problem might be one of two things. Your security software may need to be told to allow both of the .exe files. The other has to do with how you have your "rights" set up on the system. If you are not the administrator or do not have admin rights you may need to change the properties on the shortcut to grant admin privelege.

I am the administrator. I only have one PC and it's this laptop. I tried "run as administrator" and received the same error. I didn't change anyy security settings, where are they? I did notice that MW Pro 2010 installs to the same directoryy as MW Pro 6.53. Not sure if that matters.

Install location should be OK. They can coexist on the same system as long as the deletions are managed by only one.

What security software are you using?

Just the standard windows and Microsoft security essentials which is really just a virus and spam scanner.

Looks like I ifound the problem. I crated a new directory under C; called MW Pro 2010 and installed it there and voila, it works.

Apparently it defaults installation to C: Firetrust/mailwasher where MWPro 6.53 is installed and you can't have it in the same directory.

FYI, by default MWP2010 installs into a similar but different folder than MWP6. This is so you can run both new and old side by side.

The normal default path for both programs is C:\Program Files\Firetrust\Mailwasher (MWP 2010) and MailwasherPro (old version). If along the way at some point in time the default(s) were altered that may have caused the problem.

Good to know. For some reason it installed into the same directory as MW 6.

By the way, how do I import my blacklist? I click on the import button but nothing happens.

Thanks for all the help.

Did you install V1.0.10?
I suspect that MWP2010 is looking in where they thought your Blacklist was located.
C:\Program Files\Firetrust\MailwasherPro

If that does not exist then I suggest that you create and empty folder there with the MaiwasherPro name and copy the file named Blacklist.txt into it and then attempt the import again.

The Blacklist file MailWasher will import from will need to be in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\MailWasherPro

Return to “MailWasher Pro 7”
