2010 with Proper English option

Sat Aug 07, 2010 5:38 pm

I have 'upgraded' to 2010 and have one glitch.....at the moment.

A red number appears next to the upper right X. This number changes when I hover the mouse pointer close to it. Anyone else having or seeing this.

Also when I loaded 2010 it did not fully remove or disable my previous Pro 6.3 version. Both would load at start up. It did something to 6.3's files because I could not remove it using its own Uninstal option so I had to go into msconfig to disable it.

otherwise its very colourful and the setting 'Proper English' made me

You should be able to run both versions in parallel. I do without any problems.

If you click on the tab you should be able to see the list of events and other messages, the red indicates it's an error of some form, so you might want to check what those are.

Now that is strange, don't think I've ever seen anything like that mentioned before. I'm guessing Rusticdog is going to just love seeing that on a New Zealand Monday morning! :rant

I have never ever seen anything like that before. I could only hope there might be some debugging code the programmer left in causing that, but given I don't see any other reports about this I doubt that.

I'll ask anyway though :)

Programmer is also baffled, we don't have anything doing this intentionally. We wonder if there's anything tagging the program....does the number increment or just seemingly change to a random number ?

Firstly I am running XP fully patched on this comp.

It can change to any number with 1 or 2 digits......and I had a 26 in yellow this morning.

If I grab the window close to that number and stretch it the number changes as it moves and is in the main double digit. :gag

If I grab the edge anywhere, be it vertical or horizontal, to strech the window the number changes.

I have just insalled the free copy on my wifes comp which is running Vista. I removed Pro 6.3 first and had no problems whatsoever with the installation and do not experience the magic numbers. :D

Have you checked in Task manager (or other process viewer) what you have running? I don't want to be alarmist but maybe something is running on your machine that shouldn't be there

Nothing out of the ordinary...that I can see. I will wait for the compiler to have a say then maybe do an uninstall & reinstall

Yes, its def a driver issue.

I removed my ATI HD 3850 AGP driver allowing windows to select the plain ol MS one and the numbers went.

Unfortunately ATI web and downloads tell me I have the latest driver which I find odd because the download is a higher number. ATI drivers are always a pain to get right.

Leave it with me for a while...........which I might be gone for. :scratch
