My XP Pro 4GB RAM Dell desktop PC started crashing with the fatal error blue screen of death and a memory dump message referring to recently installed programs. This began about 4 days after upgrading to MWP 2010. While the blue screen crash may not have been a MWP 2010 issue, it didn't happen until the upgrade, and no other new programs have been installed.

After uninstalling MWP 2010 via control panel, this PC no longer delivers the blue screen "fatal error" "memory dump" and "check new software" screen. The blue screen error message occurred first on shutdown and later intermittently on opening various programs and restarting.

After MWP 2010 was uninstalled, the PC easily reverted back to the older version of MWP which was left installed - with no ill effects.

Believe it is reasonable to assume MWP 2010 was causing the blue screen errors.

Perhaps uninstalling the old MWP version after installing MWP 2010 would have helped. At this point am not inclined to test that theory.

Not necessary to uninstall the old version. Both will coexist on a system. You just need to be mindful of the need to only have one of them handle the wash deletions.

RD probably just crashed after pulling an all night session. Maybe tomorrow he will be able to shed some light on how to proceed. Did you have V1.0.10 installed?

There's nothing in MailWasher itself that operates at a low enough level to be causing a Blue Screen, though certainly it might be a Windows System file or library we use.

The first place I would look is the Event Viewer in Control Panel >> Administrative Tools...and look at the messages around this time and see if anything leaps out as identifying what might have happened.

Something in MWP10 was in fact responsible fro the BSOD in this XP Pro 4GB. It may well have been a digestion problem of some sort with this older PC and not a fault of MWP2010. However, this is the PC I still use the most and it has been a reliable workhorse and properly maintained. Have 20 years of dealing with these beasts going back to DOS 4. Can't use the new program now, when this PC is replaced with a newer one will be back to pick up MWP2010.
