I have MWP 2010 set to check for mail every 5 minutes. When I didn't receive expected emails today, I opened MWP and saw that mail was last checked 5 hours + ago! The event log confirmed the fact that no checks had taken place for that period, although prior to that interval checking was done normally. No failures were noted in the log. What could have happened, and what steps should I take to assure the lapse won't recur?
Thanks for any ideas!

Go to Help, Send Support Logs, put a short note in the box about the problem, refer to this topic and put Chris in the Ticket number.LaFemme wrote:I have MWP 2010 set to check for mail every 5 minutes. Re: MWP 2010 failed to check for mail
You're right there was no failures, and it's the first time I've seen this happen when there are no failures either.
Here's the log snippet that I think is relevant...
Usually if an automatic timer processed fully you'd see this in the logs
So the short version is your fingers were just too fast for MailWasher
The good news is that making this happen would be extremely rare, even if the automatic timer was firing every minute I expect that you could sit there deleting email all the time and not see this again.
We'll see about adding some more protection in place for when this happens.
Thanks
Chris

So MailWasher was just about to start the automatic checking, but .015 of a second after the timer event fired you pressed Wash Mail to delete the spam email. Re: MWP 2010 failed to check for mail
Thank you for the prompt reply, Chris! I'm glad to know this was a one-time anomaly, for I'm a long-time fan of MWP. I like the appearance of MWP 2010, and my only criticism is the slowness in loading.
Thanks again for your time and analysis!

No problems. The programmer too has made the necessary change for the next version too so the timer will reset properly.

Re: MWP 2010 failed to check for mail
I'm having the opposite problem. I have periodic mail checking turned off. Yet, Mailwasher keeps interrupting me with a pop-up dialog box asking me for the password to an account that I don't want checked and for which I haven't saved the password. It does this even when I'm in another application, automatically changing focus back to Mailwasher. The account does have the box checked to include in default mail check, but periodic checking is turned off, so this shouldn't matter. When I initiate a manual check, I always use the drop-down box and select the account I want checked. Obviously, since I haven't saved the password, and haven't manually entered it, there are no e-mails from this account in the inbox. It's also downloading the mail uncommanded from the account I am checking manually. I saw in your previous reply the suggestion to send the logs to tech support. When I click that button and click the "Show full report" link, the full report is completely blank. Should I be able to see the logs before sending them? Thanks.

Hi Frank, you should be able to view however I don't think it impacts the actual sending of the logs.

OK, I just sent you the logs, assuming they were actually transmitted. The full report is still completely blank when I click that link. Where can I send you some screen shots showing the problem? I'd rather not post them here as they show my e-mail complete with lots of return e-mail addresses and the like. Thanks.

Hmmm. No autosupport.eml file in the Mailwasher directory. I'll send you the screenshots, however. If you have any other ideas where to find that file, let me know.

OK something must be stopping MailWasher creating the file, that would at least explain the blank preview screen...
If you go Help >> User Files >> Logs >> if you can zip and email me the current days folder to same email as above

Re: MWP 2010 failed to check for mail
Will do. I had a thought. What is the default installation directory? Did it include the version number? I vaguely remember changing it as I always do when version numbers are included in directory names. I do so to prevent the proliferation of multiple residual directories as applications inevitably evolve through version numbers over time. Thanks.

Re: MWP 2010 failed to check for mail
No MailWasher installs into the same folder every time, so it shouldn't build up.
What you could try is setting the option to automatically check every xx minutes >> restart MailWasher >> turn the option off again >> Save....

Re: MWP 2010 failed to check for mail
I think that may have solved it. I set periodic checks, restarted, reset it, and then restarted again. It hasn't done one since. For debugging purposes, periodic checking was turned off in my Mailwasher V6 and I'm sure I turned it off, if it wasn't already off from the installer reading the V6 configuration, on the initial install. Thanks.
