Hi!
I have still the old version running parallel, and I must say, that the old version is at least 4 times faster. When I click the spam flag ("thumbs down") it takes 4 seconds until MWP 2010 reacts ... when I right-click an item and flag the domain as spam, it takes up to 7 seconds. The evaluation of each email takes about 2-3 seconds, and when I add a filter, all the thousands of mails get re-evalued, which takes a looooooooong time. Well, I get about 8.000 to 10.000 spam mails a day ... no problem at all with the old version, with the new version it takes hours, literally. It is running on a dual core pc with 2 GB ram/Win XP.
It is just plain impossible to work with it ...
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Alex

Re: MailWasher Pro : 2010 extremely slow
Hi Alex
Do you have unread email shown in bold ? If so try disabling that under Settings >> Display >> ...
We aware this can cause a problem and will hopefully have it resolved soon.
Adding Filters with many emails in the list isn't always the best idea, though there is a Stop feature that allows you stop the Filter re-evaluation.
I'd be keen to see some logs as well to get an idea of things we might be able to do. To do this go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter chris as the Ticket Number >> Send Logs.

Re: MailWasher Pro : 2010 extremely slow
I see this problem after a thousand or so messages are checked.
A work around would be to restart MW as needed to get your speed back, a pain but if you enable the cache under the account settings it can be faster to clear the grid, edit a filter, exit/restart MW and check mail than wait for the filter to reevaluate once the slow-down has kicked in.
Really glad to see others reporting this so it gets moved up the fix list!

Re: MailWasher Pro : 2010 extremely slow
I give up. It now took almost 2 hours to delete 300 emails from 3700 which are still left - at this rate, I get my email cleaned by tomorrow evening ...
((
The solution?
I still have the old version installed. Fired it up, and everything works as it should be: It downloads the headlines about at least 4 times faster! It obviously analyzes the mail during downlod process, and is ready to clean after download - the new version needs an additional hour to analyze!!
But wait, there is more: the old version captures >90% of spam on first take ... I have imported my filters into the new version and set twice as many blacklist servers, and it still leaves me with hundreads of spam mails.
And now the best thing: the old version cleans my mail with *blinding* speed - it downloaded, analyzed AND deleted 3700 mails AS I TYPED THIS POSTING. The new version takes almost a day for this
(
Sorry, the new version is - at least for me - absolutely unusable.
Regards,
Alex

What constructive purpose does posting this offer, all you've done is come in any annoy this thread that had nothing to do with you. This isn't a soap box forum, it's a trouble shooting forum

If it would be the other way around (version 6.54 as an update for the 2010 Software), I would gladly pay whatever fee is charged...

Argh, so why post here about about it ?
For those who don't quite follow forums and etiquette, this topic is for Alex and his issues which I'm trying to resolve for him. It's not a place where you just butt in and post your 2c worth.

In short 2010 is a disaster and not worth paying for. Having to renew the licence every year (I won't be!) means that when 6.5.4 and its successors are withdrawn, I'll be looking for alternative software.

No you don't understand. Alex cam here asking for help, idiots have decided to offer nothing constructive, no useful advice for Alex.viczena wrote:I understand.
postings like "$10 licence - excellent idea to support product development" on the other side are very welcomed. Though they do not offer anything constructive besides promotion...

Yes I did notice what Alex was saying, that's why I was in the process of getting his logs which I would spend time investigating and determine what possible solutions or possible improvements to MailWasher we can make.Peter1202 wrote:Haven't you noticed I'm supporting everything Alex is saying?

Locking this topic, it got too messy and some people can't take a hint.
Alex, apologies for this I've emailed you direct and we can progress via email instead. Am sure we'll get this sorted
