Status Column Issues

Sat Aug 21, 2010 8:22 am

Hello all,

I just did the MW 2010 trial upgrade. Nice interface and I will very likely purchase the $10 upgrade in a day or two. So far the only issue I have is that the status column is not changing to friend", it just says "status". I have tried right clicking on the email and adding the person as a friend, but that seems to make little difference. Each of these contacts were already friends in my previous versions of MW. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Mike

The Status column says Status for each email ? Or you mean it stays blank ?

Yes, that is correct. No matter an emailer's status, all it says in the "status" column is "not to me"

Thanks,
Mike

That indicates that you have a Filter enabled with a name of "not to me" that must be being tripped on every email. Any filter that tags a message will overlay the lower level Friend or Blacklist status if you have that enabled in the Settings. If you are getting this on every message then maybe the filter setup is incorrect.
If you want to see if that is the problem go to the Filter setting and untick it, then clear the grid "C" and Yes and the repeat the Check Mail.

In order to help you further I suggest that you enable two columns Total and Bayesian at least on a temporary basis. The total is a numerical value showing the mathematical sum of all of the evaluation tools and will match the number shown in the Side Panel. The Bayesian value is the result of the Bayesian engine that gets trained based on your personal definition of Spam and Good messages. It take about 200 messages to start producing valid evaluations. The learning takes place each time you do a Wash mail. Monitor the values shown in those two columns relative to your rating. If you find one of interest the enable the Side Panel to look at the numerical value assigned from each of the tools.
