MW Pro 10: Removing list of good email when washing

Tue Aug 24, 2010 1:57 am

In the previous versions of MW, when I washed the mail, any good emails in the list were removed. In the 2010 version, if I come back into MW before the mail has been checked again, the list of good emails previously filtered is still there, even though they have by now been picked up in the mail client.

I can't find any setting that controls this behaviour. Is there one?

Hi there

It sounds like your email program is set to leave messages on the server after download. MailWasher only ever removed messages for one of two reasons....it deleted it, or it checked the account and found the message removed.

What email program are you running ?

Next manual check or automatic timed check will resync with the mail server removing those from MWP that were deleted by your mail app. No setting available to alter this.

I must not be remembering how previous versions worked. Apologies.

No problems at all :thumbsup

We've found what we consider to be a significant number of people sharing this kind of response, we can't quite explain it. All that said, there is a bug where sometimes emails removed still show, these aren't clickable in MailWasher and sort of hang around...just a visual artefact, so it's possible too that's what you are seeing. If you Check Mail again and find they are still there, try clearing the list by pressing C then Y on the keyboard and Check Mail again....

I noticed this a thought it was a bug until I realized that the old version behaved in the same way, the "good" mails were still there, they were just hidden (Revealed with ctl+F8).
The difference is that you can't hide good mails in the new version.

That hide option would be good.

One thing you can do in the new version is turn on caching under the account settings, then MW will save the messages that are on the server locally and you will not have to download them each time. That is a big time-saver if you leave mail on the server!
