Mailwasher update error

I clicked on the Update page and got the following error message:

"Invalid or missing updates configuration file. The first line of the "INI" file should be "aiu". It is possible that the content on the server does not match the updates configuration file URL."

Your advice would be appreciated.

If you click on "Settings | Updates" you will find the "Download to" folder, where MWP downloads updates.

In that folder there should be a file named "updates.aiu" - the first line of that file should be ";aiu;" - without the quotes.

So, I am guessing that your file is corrupt or missing.

But I can't open that file, and if I do open it in Word, it's all gobbledygook!

Using Notepad, the first few lines of my file contain the below. If your file contains gibberish, then the error message you received is correct and the file is corrupt!

;aiu;

[Update1019]
Name=MailWasher Pro 1.0.19
URL=http://firetrust.com/sites/firetrust.co ... 082010.exe
Size=11010640
ReleaseDate=27/08/2010
ServerFileName=mailwasher_pro_setup_1019_27082010.exe
FilePath=[APPDIR]MailWasherPro.exe
Version=2010.1.0.19
Description=MailWasher Pro Release 1.0.19

OK, so it's corrupt. So how do I go about uncorrupting it to receive updates please?

Do you use an antivirus program like Vipre Premium? We've had troubles in the past with programs like this corrupting the updates.txt file. The fix is usually just to add firetrust.com to the list of allowed websites. Here's a thread with someone with a similar problem:
