Cannot clear the grid

Wed Sep 01, 2010 6:04 pm

I have Windows 7, Mail is Thunderbird and service is through Optus.
I also have B9 (not happening at all)

Problem: use mailwasher to get mail, check and wash mail,Thunderbird is activated through Mailwasher pro 2010. Mail downloaded to Tbird. Then alerted to new mail, back to Mailwasher, all the old (good) mail still there. The grid is not cleared, manually clear Grid. Another alert, oh no mail has risen from the dead and is back. How do I automatically clear the grid after sorting and accepting mail to my Thunderbird program.

Somewhere there is a setting in Thunderbird that has to be set that mail has been cleared from the server. I do not use Thunderbird but Outlook and had to do the same thing.

This checked will cause Thunderbird to leave the messages on the server.

OK that means your account in ThunderBird is an IMAP account. IMAP accounts are designed to leave all emails on the server even after download....

You probably want to remove the account in ThunderBird and add it back as a POP account, this in itself is not easy as ThunderBird often dicates when you create the account it should be IMAP, and you need to manually alter it to POP during the setup process...

Nope still there from 29/8/10 and I could not find the 'graphic box' in thunderbird Version 3-1-2. Horrible thought but 2 years from now there will be MILLIONS of old msg on the server...

I use TB3.2.1 with IMAP. You have to create a folder that is not being picked up by MWP when you fetch (by default just the Inbox is fetched) and move the emails from the IMAP folder to this.

I move my email to a folder structure within local files for my non-gmail accounts and for gmail I move the emails to unmnitored folders/labels (I check Inbox, Spam & Bin in MWP).

I have no problem with old good mail sticking around in the MWP inbox :)
