This may seem like a silly question, but just what is the new icon supposed to be?
It looks a bit like a bar of soap with some bubbles coming out of it.
There I was looking for the old icon after installation and had quite a surprise to see which icon it was hiding behind!

It is a bar of soap with bubbles and the word SPAM on it

Spot on. I'd been working here over a year before I found out/realised the old icon was a drain plug....true story...I thought it was the top of a Washing Machine.

Isn't this a "mixed metaphor"?
Why would one use "SPAM"-brand soap to wash one's email?
Shouldn't the imprint on the soap actually be "MWP", since MWP is the cleaning agent?
(Or the imprint on the soap could be "NO SPAM"?)
Shouldn't the bar of soap be WASHING/SCRUBBING SPAM (IOW the word "spam"
under the bar of soap)?
As is it now, it looks as if one is using SPAM-brand soap to wash one's email.
I'm no graphics artist, or I would create something to illustrate what I mean...

PS I much preferred the old icon, but I understand the need to have something new for the new build, esp for users still running both versions...

The SPAM soap icon is actually nothing new and has been apart of the MailWasher branding since very early on (see old box below).

Hi, Atta:
Indeed, so it has.
I have been a long-time user, but hadn't noticed.
That said, it still doesn't make sense to me that one would use a bar of soap made from/branded as "SPAM" to "wash" one's mail.
It would seem to make more sense that the spam should be the "dirt" that the soap is washing, not the soap itself.
Wouldn't it be more "accurate" to have a "MWP" brand/imprint on the soap, since it is MWP that is doing the washing?
Cheers,

Personally I'd prefer this is the icon:

Yes, that is a classic, and a tasty one at that.
(I believe I recently read somewhere that sales of the yummy tinned meat have, in fact, increased over recent years as a whole new generation of computer users were introduced to the term.)
Needless to say, there would be all sorts of copyright and intellectual property issues to use it for this purpose.
OK, so, we're going to get into trouble with RusticDog if we pursue this thread much longer.
(But I do stick with my original observations about the current icon.
