Mailserver woes

I use Windows live mail so mail is stored on the server (not sure if there's a way to stop this) but my issue is that mailwasher keeps re-downloading every single email from the server new or old. Is there a way to stop this please? Not sure what this option does but I turned off & on the store cached emails options & there was no change.

Settings >>> Accounts >>> [Account name] >>> Incoming make sure Store cached emails is ticked
To see what an option does: Hover the mouse pointer over an option and the Help & Information section to the right changes dynamically to show you the corresponding help info.
If this does not work: Fire the logs off to Rusticdog: Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter chris as the Ticket Number >> Send Logs... and put a link to this thread in the desription. ...

Here is an external web page that shows you the settings to stop WLM from leaving the messages on the server.
This shows how to set it up but you simply reverse this to have it stop leaving the messages on the server.

Thank you but I do not have an 'advanced' settings option in any of my live mail accounts

I guess from reading the info that you have an IMAP account rather than a POP. That may explain why you don't have the option. Another IMAP user may be able to help you. My accounts are all POP.
Who is you Mail Service Provider??

Does Comcast dictate that your account is IMAP or can it be POP?
Did you choose IMAP for a specific reason?
You may be able to convert your account from IMAP to POP with Comcast's help and the change the settings in WLM to not leave a copy of the msgs on the server.

A quick Google look see implies that Comcast is a POP provider. Your Comcast support should be able to advise you about the problem your having. Once you sort that out and get WLM set up if needed then you will need to come back to MWP 2010 and alter the account settings.

Here is Microsoft's tutorial for WLM. It explains the difference between the Account types. If you are going to change the Account type you should discuss with Comcast support so that you don't lose any email.
