MWP 2010 requires .net 3.5 installed, if this is missing or damaged you will get problems.
MWP 2010 does not use the registry and if you have remove entries then that could be a problem for MWPv6
If you have sent the MS report then Rusticdog will get it and hopefully be able to advise you of how to go forward.

The current .net is version 4 but you must make sure you have 3.5 installed and do a repair from add/remove.
.net versions are not always backward compatible hence the need to have old versions installed

Personally I think it should be down to Microsoft to keep it's own apps in check. MS should put some of its vast resources into fixing .net so it is less fragile

Have you tried the MS knowledge base? Do you not get the .net stuff in MS update?
