Software was running great until yesterday.
The only change was that I upgraded my Nero 10 to the latest and greatest HD Platinum version...and MWP 2010 will start once without issue. After that it continues to hang at the splash screen at the Starting server app stage until the next reboot. After a reboot, it will start once, work fine, and then crash at the same point...and on, and on.
I attempt an update using the update. It said no updates are available. I was still on Version 1019, so I downloaded and installed the latest (1035) over the top.
I use Eset Smart Security 4 with the firewall in interactive mode on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system. I went in and manually allowed all inbound and outbound traffic to the app in every place I could find.
The original version of mailwasher is still running like a champ in the midst of all this.
Thanks to anyone who can help resolve this in advance. Love the new interface, just wish you didn't have to right-click on every email you'd like to bounce. If I'm missing something there, please educate me.
Again, thanks in advance.

Re: 2010 Locks at Starting Server App
I'm having the same problem!
And after paying for the new release! Not impressed, its too slow, takes forever to start and locks up every now and again.
How do I go back to the previous release?
How do I send my problem to Firetrust?

Re: 2010 Locks at Starting Server App
Well, I know of one other issue here dealing with this same issue, having done a search for a possible resolution before posting...but now I feel like a goof. If this helps anyone else, count it as another possible fix for this problem.
After exhausting every software possibility I could think of, I looked over and noticed my BacX Thermaltake external SATA hard drive to USB adaptor/dock was powered on without a hard drive plugged in to it. I turned off the power, and now MWP 2010 works without issue. Sooo...if you're having this issue, and it doesn't make sense, you've tried everything else, unplug all connected USB devices (except, of course, your keyboard and mouse unless you deem it necessary). If that works, plug everything back in one item at a time until you find the offender.
I know it sounds crazy, but there it is. I can only assume it is a port or service conflict of some kind.
I currently have both old and new versions running without any issues except the issue I have addressed above. They create different directories, and can be run side by side without any issues so far as I can tell.

Not many lockup problems being reported but Firetrust is interested is seeing the ones that are still happening if you turn off the FirstAlert tool, the FA bug is in the process of being fixed.
Go back to the previous release of 2010 or are you asking about going back to v6? Going back to v6 all you need to do is click the Start menu for v6 or if you had one the desktop icon. Earlier 2010 version I don't know off the top of my head since I keep local copies of each update and haven't needed to find one on-line.
Posting here works but you'll get more "other user" responses than ones directly from firetrust. You can always e-mail the support folks directly but it is likely better to send them your logs after you have an issue using the function under the help menu, saves a bit of back-and-forth messaging which will usually result in them wanting the logs anyway.

Forever to start? Most of us are seeing 30 seconds or so for a cold start and 10 for a restart. That still sucks but isn't forever.taycon wrote:I'm having the same problem!
