6.5.3 -> 1.0.35 (2010)

Thu Nov 04, 2010 9:21 pm

Hi,

I "upgraded" from version 6.5.3 to the new 2010 version 1.0.35 yesterday.

Impressions:
I had a small streamlined fast version which is with a easy to read and handle, using a small amount of memory (11MB). Just how a great utility should be :D

Now I have a mastodon of an application doing the same work, not so fast, using a lot of memory (60-100MB), not so easy to read and handle anymore. A huge step backwards. Short words: it is using a lot more resources on doing NOTHING!

I bought it because I have had it for years. If I was a new user I would have skipped it. It seems the main focus is GUI rather than functions. It should be the opposite, functions should what attracts the user, not a "fancy" look. And its not fancy either.

I will go back to the 6.5.3 version, a simple well functioning program.

I agree. I went back to 6.5.3 after giving the "upgrade" about a month. Just not worth it. I don't mind the $10, but it's too bad they went for bloatware instead of making simple corrections to 6.5.3, like not having it jump around when you preview the full e-mail.

That is why they still have v6 available, me I like and use the new functions in 2010 and find them a huge improvement over v6.

I kept switching back and forth when the new release came out. I have an older system and the new release was ridiculously slow in the earlier versions. The last couple of versions have speeded up greatly and it is working well for me now. I have stayed with the new release for the last week and am quite happy now.

I was finding the old 6.5.3 was hanging up on me more and more frequently so am glad the new version is getting sorted.

Now if I can only work out why an email on my friends list can get marked as spam, and marked for delete I will be very happy.

To see why the message is designated that way just right click on the message and select Show Evaluation Details to see the details about the message and why it is being marked as spam.

If you truly trust that your friends actually are sending the message and not a spammer who is using your friends address then you can create a filter. Under Add Rule select the Spam Tool Rule and then Sender is on my Friends List then go to options to set the value for the filter and the Override to Never mark for delete.
If you do this just be sure and watch these messages to make sure they did come from a spammer.
